Thinking about a 2254.50 Seamaster

I’ve been thinking about a Seamaster for a while and the 2254.50 is particularly appealing to me (though I have never actually worn one).

I like the speedy style bracelet, the sword hands and the black dial. I have a Longines Hydroconquest at the moment which I am wanting to upgrade. I imagine the Omega looks / feels fairly similar?

So my questions are:
- Has anyone had experience with both, and do you have any comparisons?
- Any obvious buying tips on the 2254? (I’m very new to this)
- Any trusted sellers have a 2254 laying around to save me from the uncertainty of eBay?

Thanks in advance.

It’s an amazing piece and Is already a classic in Omega’s design. I could have mine as a one piece collection and be happy.

It’s one of the most versatile designs around IMO. With the slim case and simply, but unique design- it suits any occasion.

The lume is also unmatched by anything else.

The 2254 also suits a number of straps, which keeps it feeling fresh among the collection.

I had one and regret selling it.
Just sold my 2264.50 and already regret it. What a fantastic watch. I miss the slim'ness.

@samspeedmaster I was where you were a few months ago...I picked myself up a 2254 a few weeks ago and haven't stopped wearing it! I researched it to death and was caught between the 2254 and PO 2201 but I haven't looked back since getting the 2254.

It feels like the perfect size for my 7" wrist and the perfect weight, as mentioned above it looks great on the bracelet and on straps!

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I'm convinced - I'm going to get one.

Would very much appreciate a heads up if you stumble across a good deal in your travels.
(I realise this seems lazy, but it's more caution that anything - I'm a novice and would gratefully receive the advice of more experienced collectors)

Thanks again!

I will only help in the motivation towards purchasing one. I do not have the exact reference you are looking for, but ever since I bought my 2255.80 from @efauser a few weeks ago I have worn it 3-4 days per week. It’s case size/design and bracelet make it comfortable to wear and is just a stunner to look at!

I love mine. I’ve mentioned on more than a few threads it was my first Omega, bought new in 2008. You won’t regret owning a 2254. But you may regret not getting it sooner. 😁

I bought a 2201.50 a few weeks back and now I’m considering buying a 2254 as well.

The 2254 is an absolutely excellent piece; probably my second favorite modern SMP and actually my favorite of the 41mm versions. It's a piece that's hard to go wrong with.

It doesn't sound like you need any more convincing but this was a really interesting comparison between the 2254.50 and Rolex 16610.

Thanks everyone for your input.

After a couple of glasses of wine and a small brain explosion last night I finally did it. I bought one from eLady in Japan. I have seen some favourable reviews on the forums so figured it was time to take the plunge.

I will upload some pics when it arrives!

Congratulations on your new watch. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures once you receive it.

I also purchased my 2254.50 from eLady last year after a night out of consuming adult beverages. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Been thinking about adding a Seamaster from this vintage and was leaning towards the bond watch but these pictures have me rethinking it.

It finally arrived over the weekend (DHL is amazing). I have taken it directly to the Swatch service centre to give it a look over. Will post pictures when it’s back - but so far so good!
