Do you think it is is flaking? I would think it is color degradation quite common in blue dials of those years.

To my eyes it looks like the dial is made of brass that is starting to show through. But that is an assumption. So far I am believing my lying eyes. I don't actually know what it is in fact. And I would like to know.

Are you sure these sorts didn't go into space? Cosmic Ray Patina.

When the paint from the hour markers is still intact as well as on the Arabic numbers, I still find it desirable. (The case and hands also being in good condition) I like this look.

Oh, that’s the psychedelic Constellation- I hear those are popular in California. I can see a Melrose Ave boutique reselling that one for $5k with a shredded pair of Levi’s and tattered 80’s beige Member’s Only jacket for an additional $4k
