Why, my wife would still reject me... after nearly 25 years of marriage she prefers sleep and books to my digital prowess.

Well that escalated quickly!

Off in 3 seconds and back on in 2 seconds today.

If you haven't tried a Komfit you really owe it to yourself to do so... amazing comfort and (to my eyes at least) drop-dead gorgeousity.

You've actually got me considering this damn thing as a bracelet option for my Gruen and Zenith. Apparently, it fits lugs between 16mm and 20mm. Even if I can get over the end links I'm not sure how the look would work on those watches though. Hmmm...

The originals fit down to 16, I don’t think the new ones do. The mesh part is indeed 16mm but believe endlinks only compress to 18mm. I don’t have mine in front of me too verify that, but I believe they thickened it up a notch from the originals.

Only one way to find out ... and if you don't like it, I'm sure it'll be easy to move it on to one of us drooling In the thread.

The new standard ones from Forstner fit down to 16mm. (Not the wide versions though)

I'm sure @Forstnerbands will confirm

The website says the thin version goes from 16-20mm. In the case of the Gruen, I think that clasp is bigger than the watch itself.

Is that a dibs? 😁 We could even avoid shipping costs.

You are probably right. For anything smaller and vintage I would be inclined to hunt for the vintage strait bar version (it’s what is on the Milships I posted above). The bracelet is a little skinnier and the strait bar is much sleeker than the spring loaded housing. Mine came on a Longines Weems (currently in the project box) and at 29mm it looks perfect.

You beat me to it @JwRosenthal. I was about to say the same thing based on your previous picture. I like the straight bar look. The end link situation on the new one turns me off a bit and isn’t as sleek. Below is the one I really wanted but was a bit too slow.

That is yet another vintage version. Typically they were cut down to size so you may find some odd sizes out there. Don’t forget that when shopping for these vintage bracelets that you may think you want a “16mm”, but you don’t. You want the endlinks (or bar) somewhere between 15.75-15.95mm. Some sellers will list them as 16mm, and some will give actual caliper measurements. So when you search, avoid the desire to put “16mm” in the search description and just search for “Forstner” and sift through the crap to find what you are looking for.
And don’t forget the vintage Bonklips- those also look smart on smaller vintage pieces.

Forstner does offer a modern Bonklip (I have 2) which are very nice on retro style watches, but they are larger than the older ones (and have a modern push button clasp as opposed to original the friction fit clamp). The vintage ones (GF and branded Bonklip) came in 12-15mm width band with strait endlinks that were usually 18-22mm and were meant to be cut to fit- so again, you get some funky measurements. Contrary to what we may think, the thinner bracelets actually make smaller watches look bigger. So a 12mm Bonklip with 16mm enlinks will visually make a 30mm watch look bigger.

Edit- there were some 16-18mm vintage Bonklips and those go for big money. Before Forstner reissued the Bonklip, finding a vintage one with 18mm band and 20mm end bar was the grail and they could go for far more than the watch you intended to put them on.

I vaguely remember reading something somewhere that suggested even NASA astronauts needed help fastening their Komfit bracelets and that it was best done as a two-person job.

Timesofplenty has a couple of them and he does list them as "file to fit", so it's not unheard of to make them fit your own watch. Make sure it's even or it'll look off!

Hmmmmmmm, lol, yeah we could meet at Cheesequake rest area. (i will not call it by its new name)

On second thought, shipping might be cheaper than driving lol. But less fun. The JON BON JOVI rest area is way out of the way for both of us. And we should wait until it's warm out because then I have an excuse to take the bike.

Officially have obtained "It's as easy and natural removing/reattaching the Komfit as any pressure fit or pusher clasp bracelet" status.

Anyone reading this, if you haven't tried a Komfit you really owe it to yourself to give it a go.

And thanks again to my Bro & PWG (Personal Watch Guru) @JwRosenthal for tips & pointers on how to reach Samurai Status with this bracelet.

There is a reason they quit making this bracelet. It’s only because of bunch of knuckleheads who want to play astronaut that they are making it again.

space sucks

Kestenmade came to the rescue.

Can’t exactly remember where I bought this.
