Son and I did a bit of deer hunting today in T-Shirts. Was 78F and the mesquite leaves are yet green and still on the trees at our place on the lake on December 28th.
89" of snow over the past 8 days in Crested Butte, Colorado ... and still falling, if you can believe it. My wife is tired of shoveling. 😁 We are going to try to get some snow off the roof today. An avalanche off a roof could be fatal.
You have your work cut out there, nice pics though. 😁
It's an extreme event. It looks like we will continue to get snow through today and tomorrow before it ends, which will end up being roughly 8 feet of snow over 9 consecutive days. The forecast for Sunday and Monday is sunny and cold, which is more typical.
At our primary residence in Boulder, CO, there was a different extreme event yesterday. 100 mph winds knocked down a power line 2 miles east of our house. The resulting wildfire was blown farther east into a suburban area and destroyed ~600 homes. Two of our close friends had to evacuate and we're still waiting to hear about their homes. We had an extraordinarily warm and dry Fall, so there was a lot of fuel. You may have heard about it since it seems to be making the news. Not my photo, but crazy to see the fire and Christmas lights in the same shot.
Edit: The most recent news is that the fire was NOT started by a down power line. The source of ignition is not yet identified.
