The Updated Bracelet For The Omega Speedmaster Professional 3861 — Here Is What’s New!

Glad the new clasp is here.

It’s effectively the EasyLink that Rolex has had for several years, which is more elegant than the Glidelock as others mentioned above.

I prefer the EasyLink to the Glidelock. In real-world usage, being able to extend 1/2 or 2/3 of a link out helps a lot when your wrist swell due to humidity and whatnot. And these type of solutions avoid the long and uncomfortable (and unsightly) clasps.

The boutique told me this new clasp would be one of the upgrades for the sapphire sandwich model only.

For myself, push-button is huge, as it becomes an anytime, anywhere 2 second task. I can't imagine seeing someone pop their watch off out in public and fumble around with a toothpick or something. I find it absurd to assert that the two are comparable.

As for amount of adjustment, I can understand the desire for more mm range, but as others have stated that leads to a larger clasp. I would also think it's less likely to have swelling/fluctuation of a full link? Perhaps those with larger wrists? If not, then it would seem some are looking for the adjustable clasp to solve what should be done by proper fitment of links/half-links.

Thanks for this. My new 3861 Moon Watch is due in tomorrow. After reading this, I opted to pay $200 more for a new piece with the revised clasp (+ '23 warranty card), vs the prior clasp. It's not a feature I use regularly, but it's nice to have, on the rare occasion it's needed for better comfort, and I won't miss the two holes on either side. Improved resale would likely cover most of the $200 extra I spent, but if I already had the prior clasp, I doubt I'd bother with changing it. I am looking forward to seeing first hand how comfortable this new bracelet is, especially since I have a smaller (6.75in.) wrist.

Wait, what? If I read the above correctly, why would you be thinking of resale when you haven't even picked the watch up yet?

Apologies for the confusion. I automatically consider resale when weighing options. That doesn't mean I have plans to immediately sell the item in question.

Just a little update: I spoke to Omega last week about the issue some people have to order spare parts (as you actually need two now: the new clasp and the new small link, and not every boutique or service center is up-to-date). Anyway: Omega indicates that there soon will be just a "kit" available, containing all the correct parts to do the swap.

That's good news for those looking to do the swap, RJ. I'd just mention that on my new 3861 Moon Watch, the open sides on the clasp are sharp. They are sharp enough to scratch paint and furniture, especially at the corners.. My Wife even mentioned it, when we were "cuddling" a bit. That is a first, for her to mention a watch bracelet scratching her. I'd guess it wouldn't take much to relieve that edge just a bit, to take some of the bite out of it. Is the previous clasp the same? I'll likely wind up running straps anyway...

My question is did omega address the sharp edges and hair pulling of the 3861 bracelet....

Well mine doesn’t pull hair and the edges aren’t sharp, so I think they did.

I just got off the phone with the Omega US parts department. They said the connecting link has been discontinued (and cannot be ordered), and the only way to replace the old clasp with the new one is to order a full bracelet.

Definitely disappointing. Just sharing my experience as of Feb 24.

Mixed messages from Omega here. I’m sure that’s what they told you, but Robert Jan above was assured that the bracelet and connecting link would be available as a kit and I visited the Regent Street OB in London yesterday who assured me the new clasp and links would be available from May, and took my details. What a pity that Omega can’t publish some kind of categorical information about it, given the amount of interest.

Excellent. Thanks for the update. That's part of the reason why I shared my experience here. I figured plenty of others were also on the hunt.

Notably, I think that's the first timeframe I've seen. So at least I now have a tentative end date in mind.

Thanks again.

Hi everyone, I have another related question: Has Omega indicated any update of the 321 steel bracelet clasp as well? The 321 Canopus Gold version has an easy adjustment system which the steel version does not have so far. I couldn't find anything on the topic yet but maybe you know more 😀

Personally for me it’s exciting to pay a surprise visit to an Omega boutique you never know which bracelets pull the hair on the wrist or which straps would be a sweet addition until you slap one on the wrist, For someone who travels often between Toronto & San Diego the surprise visits to ADs can be advantageous in terms of logistics and wait-times.

Hi everyone. I don’t post often but thought it might be helpful to know I managed to get my 3861 Hesalite Speedy clasp swapped out for the new button adjust version.

I popped into the Geneva boutique with the watch and they initially said a week to order then fit, but found a clasp available and fitted it immediately. CHF170.

Main boutique with zero quibbles or questions about the swap, so if other dealers don’t play nice it’s likely a communication/availability thing.

(And ironically, Moonwatches available at the swatch store nearby).

edit: in case it helps, on the invoice it’s listed as “Fermoir Acier Moonwatch” with part number 117STZ015496
