Sorry for my lack of knowledge, would someone please explain to me the function of the upper subdial at 12 with the two hands?

One of those subdial hands is moved with the thin crown on the left, right?

Thank you very much

No function, it's just a toy. 😁

You set the upper subdial as a fixed reminder of a certain time (i.e. it doesn't advance). It's like an analog time stamp.

Pilots use it as reminder for change of direction in air navigation calculations.

Is it fair to ask how we feel about that price, or about how TWG prices their goods in general?

Well, I just took a look, and IMO their prices are wildly inconsistent ... just all over the place. Mostly, the prices are 30-40% above where I would buy a watch from another collector, but some are insanely high (like 3x the fair price), and I see a few that are actually well-priced.

They consign a lot as well, some of the pricing depends on who is sending them their watch and how much they are asking for it. Basically, if it’s high, most likely due to the actual seller and not so much them.

I'm not personally familiar with the market for these, but this site tracks auction prices. Obviously the asking price is at the top of this range, which is not surprising. I will mention that there is some significant damage to the upper sub-dial, and minor damage to the right-hand sub-dial, so I don't think one can say that this is truly pristine. Obviously it's very nice, but when you are asking a price like that, people are going to look very hard for flaws.

It looks like that's just aggregating anything with the term "aero compax" in it, which includes a number of very different models and variations over time. It's probably not very useful in this case unless you can refine the results more (I can't see how to do that, if there is a way).

Interesting that one of the watches on their site has hands that look very very similar to polerouter hands (wittnauer). Is there any link between that brand and UG? Sorry to stray from topic of Aero

That's correct. However, I still find it helpful in general, since it tells you the range and identifies particular sales and makes it easier to research them on the auction sites since you know when the sale occurred.

The quality is quite high on this example and the price moderate IMO. Aero are a niche market and prices are all over the map.

Were there not a blemish on this watch, the price would be higher.
