The same mistake twice? Hopefully not ……

Even if a vintage watch is working on seller end, it can be a different story after shipping. I always plan on a service. Do the economics make sense? Not always but it’s a nice feeling to bring an old bird back to life, especially if it still looks good.

I wouldn’t have bothered if the dial and hands hadn’t been pristine and the case not bad

Two black dials and a silver dial that you bought twice. @Spruce you must like things in twos 😁 Admittedly, those black dials are awesome, I like the red outline.
That red rim is a clincher. But Longines dials of that age seem to last quite well

The one on the left is in almost unused condition so I’m not sure of the movement. 505, 6651, 431? … but it’s crown protrudes slightly although it’s the only one with a quick date change so it may be intentional.
My repairer checked the two he worked on and said neither had date advance.
Unlike the Omega 565 on which the date advances when you pull the crown out, on this it advances when you push it in … and it’s pretty sensitive

Just accidentally discovered that this 505 does have a working quick date advance, activated by pressing the crown in so, notwithstanding my earlier post, it seems that both black dials are probably cal 505 movements

Made me think of my second wife.
