Let us know what the auction closes at. Would be interesting to see what the market thinks about this watch.

Just took a look. The Red Sub went for lower end, £7,000 plus commission, around 30%, So everyone's comments were spot on. Phew. Had a more relaxed weekend because of you guys! ;-) Thanks again. They did have a 5513 that I believe went for around £14,000 from what I saw, so that one must have been much much better!
Cheers,
Chris

I’d stay away from that auction house if they didn’t know the issues with that case, or if they didn’t disclose them.

So, with buyers fees, thats around 9000 gbp, or 11000 usd... WOW!!! Even putting the massively over-polished case to one side, and the questionable engravings, the single most important part of a red sub (in terms of value), the dial, is a big no no too. As mentioned already, serious dial edge chipping, and what looks to be lume stabilisation compound... So, really nothing to redeem this piece. Even the bezel insert is a service item... I wouldn't have paid a quarter of that for this example, simple because I don't how it looks - if I was parting with 11K usd for a vintage Sub, I'd be putting it towards a nice white 1680 or top notch matt 16800. At least that way I'd smile every time I looked down at my wrist.

Exactly, that would be the smart move!
