I wouldn’t mind that type of boredom.
Îve been worried about elderly persons and hospital physicians among my most loved ones so haven’t been thinking about watches at all. Things seem a little less bleak now though... if you’re not looking at the economy.

Aviation teaches us, that the whole life is full of ups and downs. Also this down (corona) will have one up again.

In the meantime, threads like this one can help us keep our spirits navigate calmly, until we touch down in a healthier time again.

Thanks to everybody who posted here in this wonderfull thread!!! So many wonderfull pics!!!

Early 1980s grey dial Poljot "Flight" 3133 chronographs, Russian Air Force models used by at least 25 cosmonauts during a dozen spaceflight missions between 1980 and 1986... among whom first female to make a spacewalk; Svetlana Savitskaya (July 1984)
Amazing Russian made toolwatches, never hyped nor marketed and which can still be bought for the cost of a new Omega NATO strap !

I only own the one. Smiths 6B RAF watch (same basic watch as the Smiths W10, but different caseback markings) from 1968:

Of course... Gemini V & XII combined, Pete Conrad flew his personal Glycine Airman for over 10 days in space.
Moreover, during Gemini XI, due to the open design of the two men Gemini capsule, he and his watches were directly exposed to outer space
In this way the Glycine Airman became only the second watch make to be exposed to outer space
(1965 Omega Speedmaster, 1966 Glycine Airman, 1971 Bulova 88510, 1994 Fortis Cosmonaut, 2008 Fiyta and 2008 Seiko Springdrive Spacewalk)
Currently " Glycine Airman " special on MoonwatchUniverse: https://moonwatchuniverse.tumblr.com/archive

shouldn’t you say “in orbit” instead of space? The x-15 program reached space. It’s well known those watches where used in that program I thought?

    @Foo2rama
I have not yet seen a Glycine Airman being used by one of the 12 X-15 testpilots... so far I have X-15 flight photos of 7 of the 12 X-15 pilots wearing an 38 mm Accutron Astronaut GMT tuning fork wristwatch. The Rolex GMT-master 1675 Pepsi was also worn on two X-15 flights in 1967.
Spaceflight-wise, the Glycine Airman automatic GMT pilot watch only flew on Gemini V and Gemini XI... worn by Charles Pete Conrad
In fact on Gemini XI, the two man capsule (Conrad & Gordon) flew the highest orbit ever with an apogee of almost 1400 kilometers !

IMHO, one of the best Vietnam era pilot photos, is this image of Jeffrey Feinstein, who flew as a navigator/weapons systems officer in the backseat of an F-4 Phantom. He was one of the 5 last fighter pilot/aviator aces of the Vietnam conflict
Note in this September 1972 USAF photo, Feinstein was wearing a Heuer Autavia 1163 GMT automatic chronograph with Pepsi bezel...
