·If the Phantom of the Opera tells the tragic story of a beautiful soprano who becomes the obsession of a mysterious and disfigured musical genius, one of my numerous watch obsessions is the Opera ghosty watch that I only knew from a couple of Omega vintage catalogs, presented as the "Opera".
Not the De Ville Opera that was available in the 80s and powered by a quartz caliber, but the more vintage "Opéra" from the late 40s/early 50s.
This model features a rose gold case and an interesting dial with a nice circular musical staff as chapter ring.
On the latest picture, the watch is drawn with a defect... the musical staff is printed on top of the index at 2' 😝
But I never had the opportunity to see a real one in the flesh... until I finally found this one. Except it is with central second, and "Automatic" printed below Omega.
Inspired by the performance? And have you any other "Opera" watches to share?-)
