IMHO, the rolex president's dial doesn't hold a candle to the grand luxe dial.
The stick dials on the 1803s look plain crap, the only Day-Date dials I like are the white with gold roman numerals, even the modern stick dials look mediocre at best. They're just so flat and boring.
Its still amazing to me that a top notch Constellation De Lux will fetch the same money as a shagged out, polished to death Rolex 1803 Day-Date with a discoloured date and day wheel. IMO its proof that the rise in Constellation values recently has been a market correction rather than a bubble
Both constellations went for good money - the somewhat beat up rose gold grand luxe went for a shade over $4700 and the put together went for over $3700. Boy these early gold connies are certainly fetching good prices even when the provenance and condition is suspect.
There is a big market for 18K 168005 with 18K dial. With a crosshair on the dial, 564 , 18K buckle and nice condition, it can fetch up to $6000 or more

Seriously? I figured without the arrowheads it'd go for a bit less, that's interesting to hear
That's one of the condition issues I was referring to. Also, the bezel is not very sharp and the words constellation and waterproof are no longer noticeable in the caseback. These deluxe dials really shouldn't be cleaned because the letters can come right off as can be seen in this example.
