My current post count suggests that I'm new around here, but I've been lurking and (trying to) learning/reading as much as I can so that I can ask questions that reveal the real depth and breadth of my ignorance about the mission upon which I'm about to embark. I search for a Grand Luxe on a yellow gold brick bracelet sporting a stepped gold dial and broad arrow markers. My vintage Omega research was compiled from this vintage forum (Learn How to Fish, Worst Redials, About Omega Buckles, et al) as well as the omega-constellation-collectors-blogspot.com site. Yet, as much information as I've absorbed here (which is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED), I still feel ill-equipped to move forward in an informed way.

What's next? Is there a Grand Luxe guide to help me understand my options?

Just a note regarding the Grand Luxe, if you have a large wrist you can almost entirely rule yourself out at any price point. The reason is these bracelets are not resized with pins in a simple manor by a watchmaker but are resized in a sort of destructive way that involves some actual goldsmithing and soldering. Once they have been shortened, its extremely difficult to ever add links back to them even if you can find them. So for me and my giant wrist its strap only if I want a grand luxe, while if you're under 7.5" (ideally under 7.25") the market gets much bigger for you. @kyle L and those with tiny wrists certainly are the envy of me and the likes of @Bill Sohne in this respect.

I'm in the same camp with 8" wrists, but I'm not overweight, just big boned!

Hold on a sec. How is this measurement taken? I wrapped a piece of paper around my wrist and it measured 8.25". Is that the right way to measure? This cannot be correct. The bracelet is what makes the Grande Luxe a grail for me.

Are the other gold bracelets that look suitable? Is this tiny wrist limitation characteristic of all brick bracelets or tied of all gold non-brick bracelets?

It is particular for the brick bracelet and many others - you would need reseizable bracelets like ref. 7077 - but those in gold are rare as hens teeth and the spare links are made of unobtonium

    Dear Sir,
Appreciated your detailed remarks, well noted. Thank you.
Probably, for big wrist, one needs a full length bracelet, like the one below

Just a word on the bracelets. They have quite a clever mechanism in the clasp that allows the bracelet to stretch. There are two parts to the clasp and one slides inside the other and is attached by two springs. When I got mine the springs had gone but I had them replaced and the bracelet now fits nicely. I have large wrists and often have to have straps custom made but the brick bracelet on my Grand Lux fits nicely.

I told my wife about my wrist measurement and her response was, "Stop lying, you're always exaggerating your size. Your wrist is not 8.5." So, I remeasured, and she's right. My wrist is about 7.5".

Question: How frequently, if ever, does only a brick bracelet come up for sale?

Think of it like shopping at Costco, buy it when you see it because it won't be there when you come back.
