The most amazing thing happened...

I know the word 'amazing' is often overused.

The universe is truly weird. I have a watch often mentioned here, which is my Rusty Heuer. This is one that I keep getting deeper and deeper into. More than in for a penny. more like in for ten gueneus.

I still have the stuck pallet fork bridge screw. I am hesitant to attempt etching it out. (I would like to retain the bridge.) I also tend to add things of interest to my watch list on online auction sites.

I also had an issue with the click screw. There was however a BIN for an old style Val23 click and screw. I really wanted that screw. 15USD did seem a bit high especially for a single screw. After months of watching the part refresh in the list. Late one night I clicked on it, then paid for it.

Then nothing. days wend by. Was free shipping, so I figured such a small part would come in a simple envelope. Finally the seller contacted me. They were sorry but they lost the item and wanted to cancel the sale.

I was devastated. The seller did offer a different revision of the part. They also noted they had other V23 screws. I replied that it was the click screw I really needed. I also listed some of the other screws which were damaged. Along with that troublesome pallet fork bridge. I indicated that if it made them feel better I would be happy to receive what they could send.

The packaged was shipped, and after more waiting I received it. The seller went way out of their way and included most of the screws on the list. Not only that there was a new pallet fork bridge as well. I was shocked as I have seen this set listed on swiss sales sites for close to what I pay for scrap watches.

Sometimes there are truly honest people in the world and it is great when they share what they can.

Such things also make me feel good about selling some of my unwanted scraps for next to nothing.

I never did recover the parts of my costume watch, and while this is something completely different. It does take the edge off that loss.

Perhaps it is time once again to believe in fairies. But they are tricksters and can not be trusted. Even as to mentioning when they do like playing the strange little games, that have been happening for centuries.

Not quite the same, but a reminder that eBay isn't made up entirely of idiots and assholes.

I bought a glass watch crystal the other day, all of $8.00, free shipping. It arrived today inside a bubble mailer, inside a small cardboard box, wrapped in bubble-wrap inside it's part numbered sleeve. 馃憤

This is great. We need more stories like this. I often throw in anything extra I don't need if I think it relates to what I sold. Funny how a few lose screws can make it feel like Christmas. Hang on...

I have the cartoons on DVD. One really has to appreciate what Rankin and Bass did. Elf has so many Easter eggs back to these that netflix could never understand. Curious how it took 20 years of streaming before Elf became a classic. Re watched Christmas vacation. While funny a few things have not aged well.

Btw who is Adam Sandler? one of the bit players here to day gone tomorrow?

I had the opposite of extreme, a massive wad of bubble wrap in a box for a clear watch crystal in a clear baggie somewhere inside the bubble wrap. I almost threw it out wondering where the crystal was until it fell on the table.

Yes, it is nice to be reminded that not everyone is an a-hole. I have been partially refunded a few times on ebay because the seller unknowingly overstated the delivery costs in the listing (and I agreed to those). Very refreshing.

It鈥檚 nice when reminded that there are nice people in the world. I had a seller send me the owners manual for a watch which he stated was not included at the time of sale as he didn鈥檛 have it. He found it months later and sent it in the mail without even telling me or anything.
