Consider the following scenario involving two members A and B. A is a complete noob, B not as new.
Ah how right you are. A few months ago I mentioned the quartz gold plated square Michael Kors auction that was ending in 2 hours. Achim still won't speak to me! 😁
Consider the following scenario involving two members A and B. A is a complete noob, B not as new.
A: posts a silly question or makes an annoying faux pas.
B: makes a sarcastic or snide remark made without ill will.
A: "You have offended me, what is your problem with me B?"
Now member B has a choice. Far too often, they respond: "Lighten up, I was only joking. You are way too sensitive." Instead they could reply, "I am sorry, no offense intended. It was a joke, but seriously next time . . . "
The former implies that there is something wrong with A, but as discussed there are many reasons why A might take offense to a comment B thought was benign. The latter de-escalates the situation and ends with real information.
Oh I dunno. Those 3 dots after "next time" leave a lot up to the imagination 😁
