I believe they changed/updated their "coding" system in 1965, where 3 then referred to solid white gold.
They seem to have applied the same system/s across their entire range.

A rough summary from a polerouter perspective (e.g. no polerouters were in chrome/nickel plate so it hasnt been included):

You should be able to extend these coding systems to the entire model range.

Great read, great info. Thanks 馃憤

I think that's your answer then (sorry - I haven't had the caseback off yet) - I'm also pleased I paid quite a bit less than the linked Monodate.. The case really is nice and sharp.

It's keeping good time - the only issue is the date changes over at 9pm. It will be going off for a service at some stage but I think I'd like to pick up a spare movement in the interim.

Heres another example of same case reference, on C24, looks to be in very nice condition, prices seems pretty reasonable given condition?

I was educated inadvertently by @yala today as I never realised this watch fits in this thread.

I made a cheeky offer on Friday but haven't heard since and saw that it's now been reserved. Probably should have just gone with the asking price... Let's hope it turns up here 馃憤

So, in a dramatic turn of events I actually ended up purchasing this one and am now the proud owner of this Monodate in near perfect condition...

For posterity......also, I鈥檓 struck every time I see the Stern adds, that they retailed PP and UG. Should tell you everything you need to know about UG.
