If someone had asked me yesterday I'd have guessed Patek or JLC had made the first, had no idea it was Omega.

Yep, for a wristwatch. Breguet made the first tourbillon in the early 1800's.

Had a feeling you'd be all over that one. Few people know that Omega were the first to build a tourbillon movement intentioned for a wristwatch. Furthermore, this ain't your run of the mill 60/90sec variety, this tourbillon takes 7 and half minutes to make a full rotation. From the back...

first to build a tourbillon movement intentioned for a wristwatch. But AP made the first was it in 1986 or 87???

As ULF mentioned, Abraham-Louis Breguet is credited with creating the tourbillon in 1795. The Omega pictured above is from 1947. There is an article published online that claims AP was the first to build a tourbillon movement for a wristwatch in 1986, but as you can see, this is not the case.

Hi my name is Jesse . I'm a watchmaker who statred out as a collector but things just got WAAAAY out of hand . A 564 was the first watch I ever opened and I've been hooked ever since . I'm into complications new and old . As you can see below this is what happens when friends and family don't intervene .

Hi guys! Nice to become a part of this great new forum / site. I am a long time Omega owner and fanatic and have cycled through a number of them...am now down to 3 but of course if anyone is selling a Speedy at 2008 prices I would gladly buy it off you and get back up to owning four! 😀 (please remind me why the heck I sold mine in the first place?) Have my eye on a new AT but have to admit the current prices are a bit tough to handle. Looking forward to joining in the conversation and fun. Below are a few of my current and past Omegas...my Dad is currently wearing my 2254.50 and I have a feeling it will be a long time before I get it back😉 Have a great night!

You went the wrong way! Where abouts from?
When I was a child I came with my parents from Katoomba to Vancouver. I still have my Oz citizenship call Vancouver my home.

Hi Dave. You should post the reason for your screen name. A couple of the guys here will appreciate it.
Like a lot of screen names, it's something that just pops into yer head.

It went like this.
I had acquired an old boat as a retirement project and was doing an online search for Holman-Moody marine engines.
This is when I discovered my very first forum. I was so excited. I had to make up a 'name' on the spot.

As you can surmise, the boat is a Nova. The twin 351s are where the noise comes from.
It's still a work in progress.

So I'm Noisy in every forum. Funny how a name will stick. 'Course it means that I can never sell the boat.

No, you can never sell the boat because they never sell lol. In the yard we've got a '07 custom 14 foot bullet that's finished, a 23 foot solid wood speedboat that's meant to take a Harley V-Twin and unfinished, and the 14 foot wooden buck that the fibreglass bullet was made from. They're part of the furniture now lol

Hi all! My name is John. I already introduced myself yesterday in this thread but I'll do a quick version here as well. I live in northern Maryland and I've been collecting for about 3 years now. Currently obsessed with tuning fork watches but I appreciate just about all watches... I've only been on here for about a day now and already I get a feeling that this forum has a great group of people. I'll be in and out regularly so I'll see you guys...and gals?... around 😀
