A Rolex AND an Omega?!?!? What's next, cats & dogs living together? Welcome Eli. How about some pictures?
Dennis, Thanks! I am far behind on the photo capturing of these, but here are a couple shots. Apologies for the crappy res. and lighting. It is definitely on my "to do" list to get some true watch "porn" shots. I know i know, "cats and dogs, living together, its mass hysteria" over here in watch land. I have to space the two of these boys at either end of my case to keep them from fighting for wrist time.
Nice pair Eli, No question about your SMP-C choice, but usually people pair it with Rolex Sub rather than Explorer.... but hey it is individual choice. Welcome...........
Thanks! I like the Sub's, but I think the Explorer is the understated and undervalued timepiece of the Rolex line. I had a killer diver with the SMP-C, and figured I would go for the dress up or dress down style of the 39mm IMHO. Glad to be here!
Agree with you.....the Explorer is understated. If you continue follow this forum, soon you will have several understated Omega dress watch, especially from vintage era. It is more affordable than Rolex and IMO more varied and interesting models.
Hi all, just introducing myself.... I'm a semi-retired artist, not that any artist actually retires but rather just ends up forgetting where he put his brushes....... .... and I'm a long time watch-nut with a specific interest in Omegas, and Speedmasters in particular but seem to be acquiring some more rather obscure models of late like a NOS Omega Dynamic Chrono complete with all the bits and pieces and an almost mint Olympia quartz (Lillehammer Olympics 1994). Anyway, I hope to be joining in with you all in the forum so till then I'll just put on a couple of the obligatory photos...
Welcome artistmike....... Your photos showed that you have (unlike me) artistic skill and soul. Nice Speedy Pro by the way. What year and ref?
Cheers !... That Speedy is a 1969 one with the pre-moon caseback .. Probably my favourite model of the Moonwatches.
I've never even SEEN that Olympic Seamaster. Could you take some more pics and create a new thread about that thing and the specifics?
Hi, yes I'll be glad to. It's probably amongst the rarest and most limited edition that Omega has ever produced, even considering how often the term "rare" is used about watches these days... Anyway I'll get the info together and post a thread later for anyone interested...
I don't doubt it, we've had this forum since March 2011 and I think yours is the first one to turn up!
Hi, I am a big Omega fan and new to this forum. I spend a lot of time on WUS (same name) and Omega sections of other forums. I've had 5 Omegas in the last year and a half and currently have a Planet Ocean Ceramic fitted with the in house caliber 8520, yes the 8520. My wrists are small so I went for the 37.5mm size. I love what Omega just released at Basel, especially the Dark Side of the Moon and '57 Speedy with the 9300. I think I'm going to pick up another PO while awaiting the release of the smaller Blue Liquid Metal PO. Here are a few quick pics of my PO:
Hi there n00b dudes! We're glad to have you and hop you jump right into the discussions. No harm in buying a watch that fits properly. IMO it's certainly better than buying something that looks like a hockey puck strapped to one's arm.
Hi all, would like to introduce myself and say a friendly hello to all the members in this fine looking forum. Currently own a Speedmaster Professional with stainless steel strap, an OEM dark brown alligator, and recently acquired OEM Rallye strap as seen below Looking forward to joining in!!
Hi guys ! I'm Dave from Singapore....Nice meeting u guys here, and glad to be part of the Omega family on this forum : )
Welcome mate, we've got quite a few Singaporeans around, definitely a lot of watch collectors on your little island
