The Fate of a Fake Rolex

I had a nice visit from Archer this past weekend.

We rarely talk watches because I know very little about them and well, he is Archer.

This time he did humour me and we did a bit of watch talk. Along the way I produced a container full of cases, backs and parts. One case had a bezel and looked like a Submariner.

Al was not impressed. Five feet away he knew it wasn’t real. I put that crap away but remembered a post by PDXLeaf.

That post was in response to my destruction via 9 mm pistol of a fake Rolex in 2025. (Disclaimer to crooks. Wife does not like guns. You will not find any in the house).

Here is that miserable fake.

I became a firearms instructor in 1993 and still help out good people in need of coaching.

In March of 2025 I was at a shooting range and with a Glock 17 Gen 5 (the last pistol that I carried on duty) I fired at that fake Rolex.

Will add the link to that in a bit.

The result.

Inspired by PDXLeaf’s post (will link that too) I used the dial and crown and inserted it in that Subbie looking case.

I reached into a bag of casebacks and the first one I tried fit.

I cut the already bullet-damaged date wheel and glued it in place… I used 9 as the date. (9 mm… get it?).

I jammed a piece of leather behind the dial to keep everything tight. That and a bit of tape.

More photos.

Cool!

Now, what should I call it?

You’d get a small seconds dial in there😁

Cool way to serve up a wretched fake.

You could call it the rare open heart(less) Sub.

What “calibre” was it? The movement, I mean.

Cheap plastic mostly with a few metal parts. Oh I see what you did there!

You must have thought I was serious when I asked what calibre it was.

Wonder what kind of reaction you'd get if you wore it crossing the border. Tell them it's a keepsake from your Mountie days.

More skunk info 🙏!

You’ll need to get Al to post on the pet thread for some junk on the skunk.

Darn, I wish I'd done something like this 😁 I ended up with a fake ladies datejust in a collection a while back, and decided to just toss it instead. BUT, a 9mm would have been basically teh whole dial anyway 😁

Did you miss the Speedy?
He shot at it, but as the bullet approached, the Speedmaster started talking about how it went to the MOON, and so the bullet veered off like a woman at a bar who is similarly told about the Speedmaster's moon experiences 😁

They should make fake Rolex out of Kevlar, just to spite you! 😁
