Annexation? Little chance! Repeatedly, “you know who” has stated that Canada doesn’t have anything the U S needs! 🤣 Whew! We won’t be annexed! My late father was an American that chose to become a naturalized Canadian. I think I’ll follow his suit.

I've visited both countries, and had great experiences in both, can't ever remember feeling "uneasy" anywhere.
(Well, maybe that one time in the Men's in a bar in Galveston).

But my memories are mainly based on food and flavours and fragrances. You can see all of your places and physical experiences with videos and photos, but you can't save the taste of places. That's what your brain cells do.

So that's why my vote is for Canada, and a meal at a little roadside diner in Lillouet BC where my frozen taste buds (and arse) were thawed by a bowl of Poutine. We were lucky because the diner was just testing the Poutine to see if it would be a regular.

So, Canada, I salute you in these tempestous times.

In retrospect Canada should be the 51st state and Canadians should be bowing to the American flag for all the cash we throw at them. Canada makes a great back yard.

Not sure if you’re serious, sarcastic or trying to be funny. Either way, you missed the mark.

It’s Walrus.

The guy who buys watches and forgets that he did.

If it were anyone else I would be concerned… but once he sobers up he’ll post a correction.

I’ve always liked Walrus. He better not disappoint me.

Proof that Canadians are too nice for their own good.

Thanks, Steve. I think so too, given that he bought a watch without knowing it. Jim's got a big heart and this was way out of character.

He bought one of my watch rolls and gave me the wrong address. It made its way back to me weeks later.

Could be the way he really feels. Alcohol is a truth serum. He’s free to do so but again, hopefully he accepts the criticism in an honourable way. Let’s not be fools, although the topic is a sensitive one, many will side with the aggressor in similar instances. We have to expect it. I’m glad Canada is recognized for giving a lot to the world, including our neighbours, to deserve the ultimate level of respect. Respect that goes beyond the boundaries of crass partisanship.

Pound per pound Canada may be the funniest country on the planet, here is a very short list and there are plenty more
The professionals are absolutely top-notch, the best. But the amateurs ...

When I was a kid, we drove across the border into Canada in the Thousand Islands area, and stopped in some sort of visitor center. I remember the guy at the counter told me that they had different money in Canada, and then he said, "look, someone dropped a quarter, there's one on the floor over there." I bent to pick it up and it was glued to the floor. 🙄

No I just wanted to throw a little bomb in this “non political” thread. That keeps falling into politics. Politics is permeating everything I like this place to steer clear of it.

Perhaps on St Patrick’s day we should start a thread on how great Ireland/the Irish are instead?
Or given the recent juxtaposition of the Taoiseach and the US President would that be seen as too political?

I for one am grateful for Canada welcoming my father and his squadron to the snowy wastes of Winnipeg and allowing them a safe place to learn to fly during WWII.

And for the record - all the Canadians I have met on my travels have been utterly delightful.

They're so young.
