And...

Kids in the Hall
Royal Canadian Air Farce
Baroness von Sketch
Tall Boys

And many others.
I thought you’d be the one to mention The Beachcombers. I guess I’m dating myself… my mom made me watch it when I was a kid.

Amusingly Starbusck thought they could muscle in on the coffee market here in Australia......they left with their tail between their legs!
I'm not a coffee drinker but even I know that Oz has a very large and educated coffee market, here everyone and his dog are very discerning about coffee, no one here is going to fall for that shit.
I'm not a fan of Starbucks coffee anymore, but when they first came to Canada I was addicted to their caffeine content. My reference to them in this thread was that I definitely prefer them to Tim Hortons coffee by a "long shot" (pun unintended).

You should try Second Cup, much better than Starbucks

You're welcome.

It’ll be interesting to see the results of the federal election later this year!

I grew up in Detroit in the 60s and 70s and thought everyone knew about SCTV, the Beachcombers, The Guess Who, The Friendly Giant, Loblaws, Curling, and Promise Margarine via William Shatner. Visiting Canada as a teenager, it was like Utopia in Windsor, Ontario compared to the desolation back in Detroit. I've visited not only Windsor, but Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Nova Scotia, and can't fathom why we'd have any issues with our friends to the Great White North!

Because of their accents I asked if they were American …. they very firmly told me in an extremely friendly way that, “No!, we’re Canadian”

About half of us Americans say we are Canadian when traveling abroad these days. 😉

Even though I live in Canada, I listen to KCRW alot, an NPR station out of Santa Monica. And I watch PBS news more than Canadian news, which I just read online.

My very best friend was Oliver’s drummer for 14 years until he retired.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be personally acquainted with Oliver. A true gentleman and very humble. Once, over dinner, he regaled us with stories and anecdotes of his days studying with Daisy and escaping home to listen to Oscar practice. Although Oscar’s influence is palpable, he developed his very own voice. He was honoured past fall and walked up to the stage at the ripe old age of 90 and belted out some tunes with my buddy Jim and virtuoso bassist Eric Lagacé…..unforgettable! Also,, he is a recipient of the Order of Canada!
