Five ladies with transatlantic accents were admiring my Parson Russell terrier, Jim, in Kenwood House car park.

Because of their accents I asked if they were American …. they very firmly told me in an extremely friendly way that, “No!, we’re Canadian” 😀

I was in Los Angeles a few years ago with a friend. We were having a conversation when a couple approached us and asked where we were from. We responded with Canada. The woman asked what language we were speaking when they first passed us. I said the same language we're speaking now - English. The couple insisted we were speaking a different language initially. We assured them it was English but after a bit more back and forth they walked away convinced that we were lying 😄

It's a real picture.

“At the end of 20 minutes, the bald eagle just gave up and took off,” he described. “During that time, there were moments when we thought it was over for the goose because of all the equipment that the bald eagle had in terms of talons and whatever else. However, the goose survived the day.”

Always wondered.
Is "Pitter patter, let's get at'er" just made up for the series or does it originate from somewhere else?

Learnt this quickly while travelling in the Nineties.
If in doubt about the accent ALWAYS ask if they're Canadian.
If they are then they're usually impressed and things go great.
If they're American they usually looked surprised and just said "No, why did you ask that?"

As Spruce said, you NEVER want to make the mistake of asking a Canadian if they're a Yank.

True story….A couple from Minnesota approached us while on vacation in Mexico and asked the same. Where were we from? We responded from Montreal. They asked which state. We responded “Canada”. Once they figured out Canada wasn’t a state but a country, they wondered about my wife’s accent (she’s québécois). The woman proceeded to assert that she knew that Canada spoke a brand of French that was mixed with Czech….….then asked if Montreal was “right or left” from Minnesota…not a joke considering that Minnesota is a border state with Canada. ::facepalm1::::facepalm1::::facepalm1::

Thank Canada also for zippers, Hawai’an pizza, and the concept of the quartz watch, electric wheel chair, insulin, peanut butter, snowmobiles, ink used in paper money, the Avro Arrow.
Ooh, the quartz watch? Please tell us more. 😜

No, it goes back way before the series. The fictional town of Letterkenny is based on the real life town of Listowel, Ontario. My sister lives there, and the creator of Letterkenny and Shoresy (Jared Keeso) was born there. As in the series, it's surrounded by rural farmlands, and of course Mennonites (like the Dycks). I have a good friend from the Kitchener-Waterloo area (not far from Listowel) who I have heard use that phrase back in the 90's, so it's definitely not a made up thing for the show, although it's far more popular now because of the show.

I used to love ordering tickets for the red Sox vs blue jays. I’d order right when the season started and be able to land seats a few rows behind home plate or first base. At the time the natives were slow to act for blue jay tickets. Used to go every year for a series of games. I prefer Montreal as it has more of a European feel but Toronto was great for baseball tickets.
