there are plenty to be had in that range (mid/high $16k) on the boards.

congrats OP! it is a stunner. would love to see the black and white side by side in person. keep going back and forth on what I like more!

Thanks!!! I love white....

Fortunately i had the pleasure of checking out both white and black in person... I flip flopped for a bit but settled on white!

After playing the waiting game, I finally got the CALL for my Cosmograph Daytona Ceramic 116500LN!!!

My initial thoughts? STUNNING!! I am loving it...and it will play along nicely with my trusty Speedy Pro!

Here are a few quick snaps:

Congrats, mate! It's undoubtedly a stunning piece!

I have to get on a list for one of these (in White). Saw one when my wife picked up her new Oyster and it was awesome. Not sure how my SO would take to me ordering another watch when I bought one Speedy and ordered another this year and its only April... Beautiful watch though, hope you enjoy the heck out of it.

Ack sorry to hear !!

Well if it's any consolation I didn't know where I was on the list but knew the list was 500+ and my AD received approx 30 daytonaC last 12 months. I knew I was up there on the list and had solid relationship with my AD but I had no idea how long it was going to take. Patience and putting it out of your mind is the best way to go. Eventually the call will come

The disparity of waiting list times depending on location is enormous. And enormously ridiculous!

True but I think it will change over time right now we are only 1 year into the new DaytonaC. I think as people drop off the list or off list of multiple ADs and as more Daytonas arrive I think those times will come down to reasonable level

White is far better

i wish the black dial had white or cream registers. that being said, i think the white looks better in macro pictures but the black dial looks far better on wrist shots.

The black dial daytona Is the same as the older version but with ceramic bezel. All least the white dial stands out [emoji23]

personally, I like white more than black

i think i saw a review somewhere indicating that although at first glance the black dial is just the old 116520 black dial with a new ceramic bezel - on closer inspection there are very minor variations in terms of the RED daytona logo, the shininess of the silver subdials, and some of positions/spacing of the fonts. all very minor and not noticeable but it is different

I think they're both winners.....but I agree the white just hits the right notes for me personally too with the contrasts of the subdials and the cerachrome vs the main dial. The black did nothing for me in person and seemed to wear much bigger because it all just blends into 1 big piece with the black dial and the ceramic bezel.....I didn't particularly like the more "matte" subdial rings either. I preferred my 116520 in black. You did good BrucethemanLee.

Very nice @BruceTheManLee! I really like this 116500LN (but in black, perhaps, although I like both).

So after a few months have passed, what's the opinion of the veterans on the new Cosmograph Daytona? Both in image/quality and perhaps in long-term valuation?

They're easier to find now but it's still around 16K EUR in Europe. I wouldn't mind picking up one if it would hold its value well (and is reliable), but I'm not a collector and like to have just one or two good watches (that I wear daily).

Not looking to make money with it at all, just enjoy it, but I wouldn't like selling it in five years for 50% of what it costs now.
(maybe it makes sense to create a new thread instead of using Bruce's - please let me know if that is best. thx)

Well done, lovely watch. I did get to try one on, but it was heavilly over price at about 拢14.5k UKP.

I am on the 7 to 10 year waiting list. I did have a Zenith 16520 last year, sort of regret selling that as prices are going crazy for these now.

I just saw the Omega Speedy Racing black and white in the Vancouver OB...it is very nice has great technology enable bezel, Metas, date, legibility etc...but after having seen the Daytona LN a few months back and now Speedy Racing...my POV is that the Daytona LN just looks more coherent from a design perspective. I think the Speedy Racing might be an interesting option for someone with big wrists and who wants to avoid unnecessary "attention" with the Daytona.

On a final note I would just say that I think +2yr AD waiting lists for the Daytona LN might be a bit over the top?...surely during Basel 2018 and Basel 2019 Rolex will launch something new in their SS sports watch range that will reduce the demand for the Daytona....a Coke bezel SS GMT for example would suddenly become the "hot thing" to have . Seriously, I would not bother putting my name on a wait list longer than 12 months for the Daytona LN at this stage.

The Racing looks great tho, but it's a very different model. Wrist size might not even be such an issue. When I got my DSOTM the size on paper seemed ridiculous but once you have it on, it's not that bad. Depends a lot on colors and what you're wearing.

Must be. At least in this corner of Europe I've spotted quite a few sellers that have 116500LN for immediate delivery at prices that are very close/or equal to the the MSRP. Lead times vary but are into months, not years.

100% agree..but the white dial Raicing does wear bigger, white dials always do...the DSOTM with the black dial and strap wears much smaller. After I saw the Speedy Racings, from my perspective I still prefer a DSOTM with Omegas double sub dial layout.

Indeed, it does. Color totally changes the perception of size. I love the DSOTM and it does seem a lot smaller than it is, but the 116500LN is also very interesting in terms of how differently it presents itself depending on color.
