I bought my first 1013 back in 2000. Had never seen one before, knew nothing about them. A none date OP in 18k that had a 36mm case. And I got it (22 years ago) at a great price for a solid gold Rolex. But my eyes didn't like trying to read the gold dial with gold markers and hands. Luckily, I got a black and gold replacement dial from Rolex and that made me love the watch. Sadly, I sold it...a long story I won't bore you with. I later learned about the 1012, the smooth bezel versions...and found one in pink gold. Another long story. So I've bought and sold them over the last 20 years. And in the process discovered 1018 variation...stainless steel, 36mm...just like the Explorer One but without the explorer dial. So here is almost all of them...a couple I don't have pictures of. Sadly, again, I now only have four...2 1013s and 2 1018s. I sometimes wear them on bracelets, but I prefer the more subtle look of a leather strap. Only one is show twice...the black dial 1013. The black dial 1018s are two different watches. 10135.jpg rolex-oysterperpetual.oversized-1018-silver.dial-1.0mill-oysterpalace-OP1605-01.jpg 1013 222.jpg L1070997 (2).JPG 1013c.JPG w4.JPG f55.JPG l1.jpg 1013 a2.jpg 1018face a.JPG 1.jpg hungarianrolex.jpg

Smooth bezel and silver dial is my favourite.

Thank you. Mine is the later 2nd generation with the baton markers and stick hands. The first generation markers are like the black dialed with dauphine hands, and the silver dials posted here, with the stick hands. Most dauphine hands probably got replaced with the sticks during a service. Same in the 1013s. Only two of those have the modern baton marker dials.

Second picture looks like a jessy webster photo. For me its a toss up between the white and black dial 1013 but all are lovely!

Thank you. Yes...I originally traded the silver dial 1018 to Jessy for an 18k Jubilee. He then sold the watch...and a year or so later bought it back. I saw it, went to buy it, but he had already sold it again....then he bought it back shortly after that and this time I jumped in and got it. The black dial 1013 was my first one. It originally had a gold champagne dial and it was difficult to read so I had Rolex change it to the black dial (the last one their NY Service Center had). That was in 2000. I loved it and years later, in a moment of stupidity, I sold it. There are a few white dials...only one has the modern baton markers and stick hands (like the black dial). Ironically I bought that one from Jessy as well. And the Jubilee bracelet it is wearing is the one I got from Jessy in trade for the silver 1018. The 1013 with the modern markers is now in for service with Giovanni Passalacqua up in San Francisco. The 9th picture is my latest 1013...with the older original dagger markers and dauphine hands. The minute hand has lost all its lume. It is currently on a bespoke black Ostrich leg strap. I am having a dark/almost black navy blue alligator strap made for it. I also ordered one for my 18k Constellation, and it should be arriving in a few days.

I’ve also gotten a couple of watches from Jessy. He is great to work with and a fellow Sonoma County resident! The mint dial 1018 wears a jubilee I got from a 1603 I bought from Jessy.
