See what happens on a "high speed taxi run". The nose wheel actually leaves the ground! Maybe the phrase "practice aborted take off" would have been more appropriate.
Following on from the recent Red Arrows birdstrike incident from @Omegafanman. This HUD footage from a US Navy T-45 Goshawk came up on my Google news feed and gives you some idea of what it's like from a pilot's perspective.
Nice one. I quite fancy one of these in a 36mm without the extra GMT hand, as it would suit my wrist size perfectly.
I'm amazed the HUD footage survived the crash. You'd think that the whole aircraft would have gone up in a massive fireball and been blown to smithereens.
Aviate, Navigate and communicate... I was at Duxford last week on Battle of Britian day. A group were able to stay for a night photo-shoot after normal closing time, which was a great experience. I will make a post when I catch up. I chatted to the part owner of Hurricane V7497. He said when something goes wrong he always winds the clock up first (a nice original Smiths) - which gives a bit of thinking time before he does anything rash which might make it worse :0) .
Duxford was a super evening and also a chance to get up close with the only airworthy Bristol Blenheim in the world. .
Only 30GB to go on the photo trawl.... Not my best ever shot from last week but I think you guys will like it.. Achtung...Spitfire..Spitfire .
As the weather turns Cargo planes start their natural migration. Some get confused. This poor bird (West Atlantic) ended up going east towards the Mediterranean - perhaps pining for the fjords..... .
Dang! All those hours I wasted in "Theory of Flight" lessons learning what I now know to be incorrect .
Haha. I've often sat and wondered how my electronic devices could "interfere with the aircraft's navigation systems". For those who are interested, I've provided a link to an article from the in-house Boeing magazine Aero from the year 2000 which discusses this topic in some depth. In summary, the likelihood of PED (portable electronic devices) interfering with aircraft operation is minimal but to be on the safe side just turn them off when asked to do so... https://www.boeing.com/commercial/a...ssenger,could interfere with airplane systems.
