A refinished dial is not necessarily something horrid; it depends on whether you know it, it looks good, you don't care, and the price reflects the non-original dial.
A Seamaster with a good refinish might make a dandy daily-wear watch, for example.
Not all refinish jobs are equal, either. The factory refinish jobs we've seen have been reasonably good; there are some that look like they were done by monkeys. (I got crap for that once, someone accused me of being racist. I replied, "No, I mean actual monkeys!")
