A megger test involves a lot more current than a normal multi meter so it can damage some components, indeed it can be from anything from 250V DC to up to @ 15KV DC so it can pack a fair punch!
it is used to test insulation in mostly industrial applications.
Hence the comment from @ghce

From what I gather about Florida, I'm surprised a side arm isn't considered as part of the standard equipment kit required to play!

side arm? Mainly semi-auto or modified to full-auto assault-style rifles. What are you going to do with a measly pistol?
