I recollect that the point of that scene was to demonstrate that they were on Earth the entire time, so I don’t get it.

@Wryfox Is it because the astronauts thought they had landed on the wrong planet but latterly realised that mankind (and especially the US) had screwed themselves up and they had got home, but it wasn’t what they expected? The joke being that all who watched the film realised this except the person who wrote this caption as a joke?😀🙄
Is there an allegory here for Liberty leaving the US in today’s political climate? Obviously we can’t think that because it would cause issues for anyone disagreeing, wouldn’t it. No politics here!! Move along, please.
