Meeting Eligibility Requirements!

Just after his birthday celebration, a sixty-five year old tells his slightly younger wife that he’s going to the local Social Security Administration office in the morning to register so that he can begin to collect his SS payments.

His wife offers: “Make sure you bring your birth certificate and any other proof of age documents with you or you’ll be wasting your time.”

“Don’t worry about it,” says the husband. “I’m fully prepared.”

So off the senior citizen goes to the office, but as his turn comes up on line, he realizes that he left the envelope home with his proof of eligibility.

“I hate to send you home only to come back on line again,” says the woman at the window. “Open your shirt down to your belt and let me have a look,” she says.

Somewhat sheepishly, the man opens up his shirt.

“Given all the gray hair you have on your chest, that’s proof enough for me that you’ve reached 65,” she says. “Go home. You should see the money transferred to your account next month.”

Proud of himself and eager to show his wife that she was wrong and that he needn’t have bothered assembling the documentation, he explains how he was easily able to demonstrate his eligibility without any of the documentation she insisted he bring with him just by showing the gray hair on his chest.

“You should have taken your pants down too,” says she. “That way you would have qualified for disability payments as well!”
