We’re on to animal abuse for a chuckle?
Dude don't take life so seriously, It's a word play/visual gag, admittedly not one that got me laughing out load, indeed I found it a bit lame.
It's some bloke striking a pose, he's not actually doing anything to the deer......if he was actually harming the deer I'd be to first to want to lynch him!
What a sour humourless politically correct society we are becoming where everyone take offense at every little thing, no matter how absurd, they seem to feel the need to go on a campaign of moral outrage at even the slightest twitch of the needle of their own personal moral compass.
The problem with personal moral compasses is they are all calibrated differently.
And "Politically Correct" is a contradiction of terms as once something becomes political it can never be correct!

Didn’t someone in Melbourne get fined because they bought a bucket of KFC which led police to believe there was more than 3 people

A group of birthday party-goers has been fined $26,000 for flouting Victoria’s COVID restrictions after being nabbed with bucketloads of fast food.

The group was snapped by police after paramedics spotted two people ordering 20 meals at a KFC in suburban Melbourne at 1.30am on Friday.

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton said police traced the pair to a townhouse in Dandenong.

“When we went in, there was two people asleep but there were 16 others hiding out the back – and they’d just got the KFC meals at a birthday,” he said.

“That is ridiculous that type of behaviour.”

I agree with you, but I’m amazed at the fickleness and lack of consistency on this forum regarding the jokes.

If someone’s Forum buddy makes an off-color joke, then they’re just being guys and the critics are too sensitive. On the other hand, If someone you’ve clashed with in the past, on other threads, posts something in a similar vein, the pitchforks come out.

I guess we never leave high school, huh?

My point is there is no such thing as a universal gag, if we all had the exact same sense of humour then nothing would be funny, so whilst we may not get every joke or even appreciate the sentiment behind them, so long as no harm is done or meant, then we should celebrate our differences.

In theory, yes.

There’s a wide berth of humor the most people find acceptable and funny. But then a small chunk that others will find funny, and some offensive. So there’s no hard line.

The question is: if someone here finds a joke offensive, should they comment about it, or let it go, and let the Moderators deal with it?

I probably shouldn’t have commented in the first place. I found the joke more lame than politically incorrect. Hell, haven’t we all given a deer a good left hook?

Personally, we should avoid posts ("jokes") about other humans: gender, sexual orientation, race, disabilities, etc. I think animals are fair game (pun intended)

The problem with lists/hard and fast rules is that it excludes the grey areas. Where would this fall?

What do you call a gay bus driver?

By his name, you homophobe.

Blanche Knott, the writer of the best selling book series, “Truly Tasteless Jokes,” claimed in an interview, that the only line for a joke is if someone finds it funny. She says humor is the way we deal with adversity, tragedy, etc.

I don’t agree: we each have our individual lines based on our particular culture and history. I don’t find dead baby jokes funny, and won’t tell them, as I know people that have lost infants. I don’t find jokes about school shootings or the holocaust funny either. But I may have more latitude for racial jokes as grew up in an ethnically mixed community, and teasing racially was part of being friends and a form of intimacy.

So, we’re all different. Again, the question is: if someone finds a joke offensive, should we chide them for their sensitively, or accept that people come at humor from different perspectives, and both let them have they’re feelings, but also respect the right of the joke teller to have some latitude as well?

Bob,
I don't want to start a long debate, but there's a huge difference between a private joke with a friend and posting something online. I don't know anyone who would find a public joke about the holocaust, dead babies or shootings funny (to use your examples). Several forum members have communicated their displeasure about certain jokes, so I still feel that in general everyone should avoid jokes about other human being's traits (gender, race, disability, etc.). Other's may still find something offensive (such as the deer joke), but I think they would be in the minority.

We’ve come full circle, then. Because in addition to your exhaustive list of verboten topics, I’m sure you can appreciate that some people might be offended by jokes about abusing animals, even if it doesn’t personally offend you.
