Some of you may have seen my adventures purchasing a GMT on a business trip:

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/jew...eluxe-and-rolex-gmt-master-faded-pepsi.74691/

She spent a couple days in my safe before being shipped off to Phillip Ridley (and bracelet to Michael Young).

Today Phillip started the real work and sent some teaser pictures, which are much better than the ones I took originally. I’m reassured to hear from him that he thinks the chamfers and dial are in great shape, and he agrees that it’s an overall beautiful watch.

Awesome experience with Phillip and his team so far, and he promised more pictures to come (which will go straight here)!

So jealous! Love the gilt GMTs, but unless I can find one, in a store somewhere unknown to the seller, it'll probably never happen :)

Excited to see the final product!

I just saw a tropical PCG gilt dial 1675 sell for $115,000CDN this past week at an auction here in Toronto - I’m sure this will be a incredible watch once finished.

The one that came on the watch was a service replacement (very common for older style bearings to wear out), so Phillip sourced a period-correct rotor and fitted a new bearing. Wasn’t really necessary, but I figured worth the expense to give the movement back some of that character.

Just got home and opened the package from Michael Young with my bracelet... t-minus 4 days until it’s paired back with the watch!

Yes, I believe it is a 6636. The original springs were mostly shot; it’s amazing the magic he can work.

I’m excited to get the watch on my wrist for the first time!

Here’s the original condition of the bracelet:

    Thanks.

I had used Michael Young before, and the bracelet isn’t as valuable as the watch, so I wasn’t too nervous about that.

Phillip’s reputation helped put me at ease, and early interactions before I sent him the watch made me even more comfortable.

    Definitely happy with both.
