Yeah it is a bit odd isn't it!

He offered to sell it for a lower price but claimed he would still be making a loss on it.

Now I don't know quite how low it was offered but that I find hard to believe! 🙄

What about the second highest bidder?? Seems to happen a lot that when the highest bidder walks away (doesn’t make contact) the second highest bidder is no longer interested. I’d suggest he relists the watch.

Well the problem is with the high bidder out the actual second highest bid would be the one without him.. so in this case it would take the price from £3776 to £2925 and the seller often won't take that.

As predicted 🙄

Seems like shady tactics on the seller’s part. I’ve received post auction emails/offers like this in the past - I’m sure it happens all of the time.

Sometimes it is genuine, I sold a watch only last week and when I sent the buyer a “congratulatory message” encouraging quick payment he said he bid in the last seconds and hadn’t closely looked at the pics and had no intention of paying and as the seller there is nothing you can do about it. I offered it as a second chance offer to the 2nd and 3rd highet bidders and got no response. Time wasters are annoying for everyone 😀

That’s a different issue, and doesn’t seem to be the case here given the sellers conduct that members have described. What I’m saying is that these sorts of post auctions offers and transactions seem to happen quite regularly given that many of us have received offers after being outbid in an auction.

Exactly that. Offering it to the 2nd highest bidder for 2925£ would be perfectly legitimate imo and the only legitimate option next to relisting. Since his offer is >300GBP higher I’d at least have my doubts about the initial winner of the auction.
