Seems like a jumbo (35mm) 505 screwback in fantastic condition https://www.ebay.com/itm/224646937137?hash=item344e003a31:g:BuwAAOSwc5xhZ~YvPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Shame there aren't any movement shots, but going by the condition of the case, I'd expect it to be in decent condition at worst.
The dial and hand-set do appear to be in excellent condition. But the case? You say tomato, I say very good, at best.
I’m not even sure about the dial. Zoom in on the photos. The dial text looks broken and faded in spots.
That’s fair but 2852 cases are a lot more plentiful than good dials to go in them due to the relatively poor water resistance, if you can find a redial in a nice case you’re set
Stunning is a bit of a stretch. And my spidy senses are vibrating when I study that dial. Could be the camera or lighting or a combo plate of over processing.
That might well seem so due to scratches on the plexi. It seems to be for a good cause - I wonder if that’ll make a difference in the final price.
It’s not a 2852 - it’s a screw back. I also don’t think it’s a jumbo, though. Maybe one of the less common references? I’ll take that case condition any day.. love a sharp case with just enough wear for me not to feel guilty wearing it As for the dial, I’m in the ‘original’ camp.
I expect this one will go high, not often you see a nice 50’s Connie on eBay UK. Also great to see all money raised goes to a good cause.
Yeah, after checking Desmond's site it is indeed a 2887, not a jumbo. With regards to the dial, I'd be willing to bet it's original and that the 'scratches' are just on the crystal. The lume is really nice, and IMO it's unlikely to have been tampered with considering who's selling the watch. As for the case, I think I'm just too used to seeing 500-series Constellations scratched so much it looks like the case has been sandblasted, or polished to the extent where the steel looks like butter. This piece has scratches, yes, but a good amount of them seem like light scuffs, and the original lines are still present and fairly well-defined. The medallion is also quite nice, although it does have some scratches. Anyways, I really like the condition on watches like these because they're usually one-owner pieces that have been used but not abused. It's sort of like a barn find, I guess?
Agreed, but having said that there aren't many (if any) really good Constellations around. I know I haven't bought one in over a year and it isn't because I don't want to add more to my stash. So perhaps there are a couple more in my boat who fought it out for this one?
This one just went for $5200 (usd). The bracelet was a factor I am sure, but that is still a lot of money. I guess the market is moving up. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-Omega...2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Was bidding on this one. But couldn't justify spending this much. How much would these usually go for?
Impressive price, but haven't seen such a good case and dial to sell since a long time... I also think the dial is original...
