This one just went for $5200 (usd). The bracelet was a favor I am sure, but that is still a lot of money. I guess the market is moving up.

Wow - another one with platinum case! 😁

Finally these go to rolex country. Never understood why these were still affordable while they blew rolex away.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this one is re-listed soon.

Don't think so, I bid £3555 but still stand in 5th, looks like the winner knows what he is bidding on.

With that bid you would have had the second/third highest bid.

It’s a nice watch but $5200 is setting a crazy new benchmark for this reference.

He means the 2887 as in OP post, not the railtrack. these 2 auctions got crazy results but well, with lots of money, people tend to look for something very special.

Damn, I'd have thought you had it in the bag with that bid!

There I was thinking I might nab it under £2,000 😬. Market has moved on!

Yowza...
I was pretty sure the result would be strong, but I was also thinking it would probably go for around half of what it did.

That said, to everyone saying 'the market has moved on,' remember that this is a charity auction, so people might have been more acceptable with splurging a bit. IMO we can only be sure of the assertion when we start seeing common Constellations in fair to good condition selling regularly for $2k+

A lot of interest in it too - not just two bidders. Stunning dial though!

Unusual to see someone with 600+ feedback to be repeatedly bidding days before the end of an auction... rather than at the end?

In the past when bidders IDs weren’t concealed you could see what else they bid on and shill bidding was so much easier to spot!!

My apologies the 14393.

Hmm, he also told me, less than 24 hours after the auction had finished, that the buyer hadn't messaged him yet.....😒

And IME a buyer generally has four or five days to make payment, so to talk about non-payment and no buyer within 24 hours of auction end, well..... 🤔

Yeah it is a bit odd isn't it!

He offered to sell it for a lower price but claimed he would still be making a loss on it.
