    Hey gang,

I'm not a huge fan of nato/zulu straps. I've found a few sites with some 'one piece straps' which I think are just shorter than a nato or zulu. I don't like having to tuck the end back into the loops.

Anyone have a good source for one piece straps that are sized like a regular watch strap?

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks!

So the end just folds over and the metal wings are folded to keep them in place?

    Cool!

Slip the metal into the slots and bend over. Reusable, too. Better than the open end type that need to be glued.

If you don't like nato because of its length and the need to tuck it in, you can cut it shorter? I did that to my B&S nato ... its much cleaner without the leftover jumbled up on the other side.[IMG]

I have tried that. I just don't like the metal keepers.

Found a few options, will experiment a bit.

That was one of Jungens I posted above. I haven't bought one but they do look nice.

You can always do a simple pull through. I make leather straps aswell as the hardware including the buckle. I make them from 50 caliber rifle brass shell casings. I cut, shape and file by hand.

If your into that sort of thing Screenshot_2016-04-03-01-28-34-1.png

From the discussion I'm gathering that you're likely looking for a sports solution, but I'd like to point out that there are clip-on options for dressy straps as well. I recently purchased a nice 18mm lizard strap with clips from the German brand Eulit. It looks indistinguisable from a normal dressy lizard strap.

In my case I didn't even need the clip-on system per se (it was for my battered Seamaster bumper), but it was the only glosse black 18mm lizard strap that I could find that tapered to 14mm (to fit the original buckle). Still, it's nice and doesn't add substantial thickness.

Last I heard, Hirsch still stocks open end straps, although the stores in North America anyway, don't stock them. They changed to finished end straps years ago, but I doubt that they discarded their old inventory. There was a time when you could special order these straps. Now, whether things have changed or not......I don't know. These straps didn't use metal clips. They had pre-applied dry adhesive which you wet with acetone, applied a clamp to the fold over for two minutes while the adhesive dried, and you're on your way. A Hirsch dealer may be able to help.
