Good I hope the gets his money back, it would be pretty shitty losing out for doing the right thing.
Mind you the way of the world seems to be that no good deed can go unpunished!

I've not heard of any manufacturer selling LE boxes and accessories separately, there just wouldn't be any upside for a company to do that for limited edition pieces.

This is really a remarkable story that after two years the OP's stolen watch surfaced and will hopefully make its way home. I am always suspicious when I see relatively new watches for sale without boxes or papers, especially a LE piece like the Rising Sun.
You could easily buy boxes and ancillaries excluding the warranty card from Omega a few years back. Dials and dial furniture are a bit more difficult, bezels etc vary. My Sojuz Meteorite had a pretty bad box which got replaced that way. Also bought the back for the watch, Omega kept the original.

Maybe, but when the Tokyo's came out in 2018 I think Omega's policy of selling replacement boxes, dials, hands and bezels was pretty firm in the NO category except on an exchange basis. I've never seen any put together Tokyo Speedmasters, the dials just aren't available. I don't think Omega would sell you one of the special white lacquer boxes, either. Maybe they would exchange a damaged box for a new one, but selling you a new one by itself, no.

Yes, but also due to the fact that the whole Tokyo thing was very Japan centered - you couldn't buy the watches in the rest of the world. Very limited production of parts and all in JP.

Omega isn’t selling standalone boxes. It might be hard to find boxes but it isn’t unheard of for people to sell the boxes on their own. After all, it’s clearly what happened in this instance.

For example, there is one on eBay right now.

And there is one for the harder to find ST2

And while this isn’t a perfect example, it’s still fitting- this complete box set for the Alaska project is for sale on our forum as of this year.

Really need to dig out my Alaska box 😀. And yes, people get them from Omega - I bought a Sojuz as per above. I could also have had a replacement for the Speedmaster 50th anniversary edition. Problem with the latter was all the kit that came with it, which wasn't available anymore. I therefore live with my damaged outer as the man math didn't add up...

I was waiting to see if @tpatta was going to update this thread; I'll give the update and Tony can correct anything I got wrong when he sees it. After returning the watch to me, I forwarded to Tony a complete copy of the entire police file on the stolen watch, he worked with Ebay, and the Ebay seller of the watch, on return of his funds. Sounds like Ebay wasn't much help (no surprise really), but the seller did agree to return Tony's purchase amount, the funds were transferred, and Tony confirmed to me he received them.

I'd like to extend my appreciation to the seller, Jacob @ Williamsburg Watches LLC for being a person of high integrity, and someone who does business the right way. He didn't know the watch was stolen, and he too is a victim in all this. Jacob should be considered a trustworthy person in the watch community and someone you can do business with confidence.

Thank you for sharing that last part- it’s good (I guess bad really) to know the eBay seller wasn’t complicit and was also a victim. I’m sure he will be willing to help the police get one step closer to following the chain back to the thief. This watch has probably changed hands several times in the last couple years.

All's well that ends well. @repoman had his watch returned after a two year journey across the US. The seller refunded the purchase price. eBay was of zero help here since it was outside the Seller Refund period. Once Jacob had received a copy of the police report that @repoman sent me the refund was completed in a matter of hours. Jacob and I both took a hit, me for the sales tax and he for the eBay fees but we agreed this would be the quickest way to bring this whole thing to an end. Two thumbs up to the seller for being a stand up guy and making this right. I do not believe he had any idea this was stolen and I would not hesitate to do business with him in the future.

And she's back home. First wristi since acquisition in 2021. @tpatta went the extra mile with having it checked out by his Omega Boutique, clasp refinished and then overnight ship to me arriving safely today with no problems. Watch is in remarkable condition given its been God only knows where in the last 2 years.
What an amazing story, so happy you got it back. Tony is the man, he has reinforced for me there are still great people in this world who care and have integrity. Congratulations, your persistence and energy seeking the answers paid off!

I do not remember seeing this in the thread: Do you know who the loser douche is that stole it from you or at least have a strong suspicion?

Congrats again on your happy ending!

You think that most people keep watches with the original box and papers?
All of mine are in a watch winder box, and the original boxes are stashed elsewhere.
