Just hate that people can't respect other people's things. Hope you get it back soon and good that you are safe.

Hi all,

Unfortunately I had my Omega Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday (2017) stolen from me in London on 21st December. The assault happened on Margaret Street, just north of Oxford Street, at approximately 11.00pm - please all be careful when wearing your watch!

Sorry to hear of your ordeal and loss. I've never really felt at risk in the 'West End' of London. For me London is my home town, but then you read stuff like this and find that someone has paid the ultimate price for wearing a watch!🙁

Being assaulted is probably the worst part. A watch can always be replaced.

Personal theft is the lowest of the low! Scum! Real lowlife! I hope you can recover your watch. Sounds like they knew what they were stealing which would suggest a repeat offender rather than a druggy looking for cash. Repeat offenders get caught eventually. Hope you are okay and not too disturbed by the whole event.

I fought off a mugging years back. I know they say not to do it but it was an attack out of nowhere and I just reacted. Carrying a firearm is fine but I’d rather not shoot someone over a watch. Even if I was in the right my state had no stand your ground or castle law so I’m sure I’d pay much more in lawyer fees than the watch is worth.

Always sad to hear of these thefts people are experiencing. It’s very disturbing. Even if you aren’t hurt you have the loss of the watch and run the event through your mind over and over just miserable all around. I imagine in a big city like London this would be pretty much ignored by the police. I have a couple friends who are city cops and they tell me resources are slim and robberies/stolen goods are low priority.

Regardless sad to hear you had to go through that.

Don't know if ANW1990 is still around. Would be interested if there is an update?

Hi,
No update unfortunately. I continue to check eBay, Gumtree etc. etc. from time to time to see if it is out there but nothing so far.
I also registered it stolen on The Watch Register.
About a month after the event the police contacted me to say they had no further leads (CCTV etc.) and were dropping their investigation.
The search for #65 goes on!
Thanks all for your messages,
ANW

I hope you find the watch. As someone else said, it's a good thing it's a limited edition. It will pop up somewhere one day. I'm actually looking to purchase a Speedy Tuesday myself so if I come across #65 I'll let you know.

Hi,

Yes, No.65 of the Speedy Tuesday (#1) Alaska Project Tribute. It was on the original brown leather strap when stolen from me. The watch/strap was pulled from my wrist during the altercation, so the strap will have been damaged. No doubt it will be on a new strap if they have sold it/are selling it.

Thanks all.

Have any of your stolen watches showed up?

--

Hi,

This was the first watch I ever brought, so the only watch that has even been stolen from me.

I'd been saving to buy a watch for sometime, and was one of the lucky ones to be on Instagram the moment Omega announced the watch. I reserved #65, couldn't wait to get it, and wore it daily once I had it. Absolutely loved it.

The night it was taken from me was a complete shock. I was aware within my surroundings and minding my own business - just heading home. It doesn't matter how many signs the Met Police put up - you think you're aware of everything, but these idiots who think they have the right to steal from people will stop at nothing.

I don't think he even noticed I was wearing a watch to begin with, it was under my jacket - maybe slightly showing. I think he was after my phone/wallet, and once the grappling started he chanced there may be something there. Without looking at what watch it was he went for it (without seeing the brand etc.), and then threatened to stab me if I didn't give it to him. At that point you somewhat give it over with little fight. I was going to take it off but he carried on pulling at it, and it eventually pinged off my wrist. He ran off. Two people witnessed it. Police arrived, but a few weeks (maybe a month) later they closed the case.

I was very lucky and wasn't physically harmed. Still plays on my mind.. should I have done this/should I have done that. But at the end of it all, there's more important things in this world than a watch; and unfortunately good people have lost their lives for their possessions which should never happen.

As I said, hopefully one day it will show up - thanks to everyone for reading this thread/keeping an eye out for it.

Cheers.

This is a terrible event. I wonder if the local police don’t try reverse stings and have undercover police officers walking the streets at night wearing nice watches. They’d get some easy busts and then word would also spread on the street that you don’t know who’s a cop or not. Street mugging wouldn’t disappear but it would likely be reduced.

This was a more common tactic for New York transit police many years ago where undercover police would pretend to fall asleep on the trains to see who would try and steal their stuff.

Just read this thread for the first time. You absolutely did the right thing. Some people die or get injured for life fighting (stupidly) to defend property. The number one advice professionals give to people who get attacked by robbers is: give whatever they want without resistance and make sure they leave you alone as soon as possible.
Your life is worth so much more than a watch.
Be glad you can enjoy the sound of the birds chirping in the trees and enjoy the people you love . The rest.... is only money.
Best regards
