Hi @All - still on the hunt.

I asked today for more pictures. Seller claims 861 movement and -69. (The bracelet is not so important for me).
Any flags at a first glance? Is this a true step-dial ?

Merci, Jo

and yes: DN ->but possible for -69 "
  • DO90 bezels were replaced by DN90 in the -69, at approximately 3090xxxx"
  • not applied logo
Are the pushers OK?

Looks correct. It’s not setting my heart alight though.

Thanks : and 3500€ as price will increase the heart-rate??? Or should I wait for an applied logo?

Jochen, you have done some studies already?
Stepdial -ok
861 movement - ok
Pushers are hard to see on your pictures.
Can you live with the hands? Or are you going to adjust them?

The price feels ok, BUT - you need more close ups on the dial!
The pictures here are hard to zoom in, and you must check it out, there could be blemishes and other stuff...
And more pictures showing the case from all sides....It looks promising on your pictures.

Here is a post that I did, try and ask the seller to take similar pictures?
😬

Lots of work maybe....but once done....!!

Good luck!

Not particularly. I think that’s what it’s worth on a good day in the current market. Personally I’d value it a bit less.
My issue it’s it’s not that attractive. Every watch has a price but if it’s not a great example it should be cheap. I’d rather pay a bit more for a better one.

Only you can decide if you want an applied logo but regardless which reference - condition, condition, condition.

I can only agree with David here, the 3 C´s are very important!
But if you have set yourself on a "low" budget....there are things regarding quality that might have to go?
And subtract the value of the bracelet?

There are a few things that are more important:
The Do You Like The Watchometer
The Do you Want The Watchometer (copyright @Davidt 😃)

Condition-wise it is not bad really. It is all original from what i can tell. It has never been polished and the lume on the hands looks original and there is no loss of lume. it is also coming with the original bracelet it looks like which is probably worth at least $500 nowadays especially with the 633 endlinks. if i was looking for another 69 for my collection this one would tick all the boxes

Condition (or attractiveness) doesn’t just depend on whether the case is unpolished and whether the original components are present.
For example there’s a significant difference in attractiveness and thus value between a dull dry looking dial and one that is bright and pops. Same with lume, two watches can both have original lume, one has dull, dirty green and one has bright, vibrant yellow.

These opinions and subjectivity are part of what makes watch collecting so interesting but when compared to other -69’s I’d say this one is average at best.

I would say that if you are strictly speaking value- it's decent, right in line with some other deals I have seen recently. MUCH better value than a couple yrs ago for sure. I am not a huge fan of someone else's personal engraving on the back unless attached to some really cool provenance. The hands are obviously an issue- but could def be looked past. I own a later serial with a DON bezel- but understand there are inconsistencies around this serial range. To me, it would bother me knowing it may have originally come with a DON. Good find though IMHO.

Things I wanted out of my 145.022-69: a good step dial - I love the look of them - and matching hands; a good, original DO90 bezel. Then, I looked at finding the best, never polished case I could find with the most original parts. A bonus was I got a fantastic, full length, almost new-like 1039/516 bracelet also.

This one looks okay, but without the step dial AND DO90 bezel, why would I want it? I wouldn't and at that point would be better served by a new Hesalite model with a Forstner flat link on it. I'd rather put the money there than an old, maybe even great, vintage watch.

it has a step dial. The bezel is also correct for the serial number.

I didn't say it was incorrect, I was stating what I wanted out of a 145.022 (specifically a -69 when I was looking) which covers a large amount of watches and years and configurations. Without those things, it's an old watch, that's it and I would be better served with a 3570.50 or a new Hesalite if I wanted a step dial, which I would. It's to make the OP think about what is important in this watch they're looking for. Hope it helps narrow down what's the most critical.

I would love to have a 1966 vintage speedy, but the thought of going down that rabbit hole is daunting. So I have four current ones, with the current big 3 represented.

Looks like everything correct. Only issue I see are dark hands. Common with these. I think it’s up to you regarding hands. I think it kinda adds vintage look but that is personal preference
Bracelet 1171 with 633 endlinks which is popular and solid. Price seems right. I think good first speedy to wear and connect with before deciding on much bigger outlay for 321

Oh, I thought so, too, and still do to an extent, but I took my 145.022 with me to look at a new Hesalite at an AD and was very taken with the new version. They did a very good job. My opinion is based on what I like best about the old version, though. I definitely understand wanting a vintage one, though. They are very special.
