I will miss Stephen and his laid back low-profile attitude. He seemed a class act and deserves applause for Omega麓s resurgence. 馃榾
Raynald we will have to wait and see...can麓t judge a book by its cover...but he does look very much the cliched C-level executive type. Based on the watches he is wearing in the photos I don麓t think the "old school" crowd (i.e. those how prefer Tresor, Speedy Pro, Speedy 57, Seamaster MC 300, Railmaster, Globemaster) are going to be his focus.
Perhaps he had already started taking over the reins at Omega in terms of product direction and the Basel 2016 collection is already a sign of future direction...bling and loud watches for showoffs馃槻.
I suppose one of the positives of having a younger CEO is that he might be able to work out a "smart/connected" watch strategy for Omega. I also assume that he has taken part in the OB / direct sales strategy and if he does get the Grey Market under control he will have many 馃憤馃憤馃憤馃憤馃憤馃憤 from me...it will certainly help improve the retained value of Omega watches and improve the brand image over time.馃榾 Cheers.
Hi
I met Mr. Urquhart once at the NYC OB , during a Buzz Aldrin event.
I was in the workshop at the OB talking with the watchmakers there and brought about 10 vintage Omegas including my 600 meter and my 18k gold Seamaster date chronmeter , they were just all payed out on a bench like you would see at a GTG. Well Mr Urquhart walked by and stopped and was just staring at them. He then asked who owns these watches ? I answered him and we started to chat about Omegas old catalog of watch models.
He went ahead and picked up the 18k Seamaster date chronometer and said that it was the inspiration of the then new AquaTera line.... I then brought to his attention how much people love the 60s Seamaster 300 and how people are buying kits online and building one, I suggested why not reintroduce them with cal 2500 as an entry level watch...
Here is a pic of a steel Seamaster date chronometer.
Oh well...
Oh and for the people who say you need a pic or it did not happen...
And just an extra photo from that same day!
Good Hunting
