I know this isn't watch news but big news from Hodinkee this morning: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/t...sion-to-retire-and-names-omegas-new-president Going to be interesting time for Omega but I'm confident the new boss will make the old boss proud. Max
It will be interesting to see if this has any bearing on the direction Omega is taking. Would love to see a drastically slowed rate of new releases and more conservative designs, but I realise that this isn't how Omega usually has done. Time will tell, it always does
Interesting, Urquhart's era really marked the whole turnaround for Omega from the 2531.80 era of solid but cheap with minimal detail to the current Calibre 8500/9300 family bringing it back to its former glory. It'll be interesting to see where it heads from this point forward, hopefully they'll continue the path they're on.
Maybe it's because after 8168 hours he was unable to sign Scott Kelly as a brand ambassador who as of April 5th is now a Breitling ambassador like his brother Mark. Maybe this picture should be referred to as the "Peace out Omega!" image.

C'mon... You forgot the most important photos... View attachment 222497 View attachment 222498 Raynald with Superdoc...
I think ABTW said it best: "The challenges that will lay ahead of him include further developing Omega's METAS-certified in-house movements and introducing them to an ever wider range of products, overcoming the increasingly difficult market situations with declining demand from China, the company's main market, and – last but not least, and something that likely is the key concern for Omega fans – keeping the brand on the right track, striking the correct and sustainable balance between honoring Omega's extensive history and developing new and exciting products."
LoL ! Me too. I think it's going to be a very smooth transition, Raynald has been with the company a long time, and was actually the only Vice President to be part of the executive board of the federation of the swiss watch industry. So he's been very influential already. I doubt if we'll see any dramatic changes. Also, he has a true love for Omega... He could have jumped ship to presidential roles of other companies, but really wanted Omega... He has great love and respect for the history, and is very receptive to the collectors.. And he has boundless energy. Omega is in very good hands
