I just watched that video. I liked how true to the original episode they kept many of the scenes.
Wow, that was really cool. (Someone had a lot of time on their hands!)

I really like the episodic style of SNW as opposed to the 10-hour movie format so common now on the plus networks.

I really like the episodic style of SNW as opposed to the 10-hour movie format so common now on the plus networks.

It still has an overall story arc, but it’s not as dominant as it is on Discovery for example. I found the ending of the story regarding the doctor’s daughter to be a weak spot, but otherwise it’s been very good.

Well as the James Webb Telescope images have reminded us, there are plenty of strange new worlds to explore.

I think keeping the two doing their separate things is a good way to go, I still quite enjoy Discovery but SNW was probably better this season. Ever since the dueling Deep Space Nine / Babylon 5 era of the 90s there’s been a bit more of a desire from audiences to have that long overarching story as DS9 ended up having to adopt that in later seasons to some extent at least to compete with B5’s approach. When Enterprise hit its stride in Season 3 and 4 it really followed the plot arc formula too and people did enjoy it for that until it was canned.

Great show, I enjoyed each episode thoroughly. Hope they can continue the overall solidness through S2.

TOS and TNG have always been my favorite Star Treks largely because of the episodic nature of them. I enjoyed both Babylon 5 and DS9 but quit watching both about half way through. I did not like Discovery or Picard. SNW is like a breath of fresh air after watching the first seasons of the last two.

“God bless Dr. Martin Luther King”.
1000%. King knew. Nichols was instrumental in so many long-overdue firsts -and so much more. I loved her as Ohura. Indeed, to King’s point, Gene Roddenberry’s vision of our future is the one the entire world needs to strive for. He was a brilliant visionary and humanist. Without sounding tinfoil hat-ish, I’ve long believed meeting an alien race is the only thing to cure us of our puny yet deadly squabbles and self-centred collective pettiness.

T-8days and counting to S2
re-watching S1 now, in the middle of the "Freaky Friday" episode. (Spock Amok, prob the least creative episode of S1 IMO)

We just rewatched S1 and some of the episodes really grew on me. Sure, they can be a bit ham-fisted in the way that Star Trek has always been, but I just appreciate that they have consistent themes that they explore throughout the season.

I couldn't make myself like Discovery, sadly. SNW is still fun. Picard....meh. They're all too WOKE if you ask me. (ducking) joking...just like to type "woke" now and then since a faction in the States loves to toss it out without having a clue as to its meaning or derivation.

S2 E3
Tritium saves the universe!

Yes, but had to cringe at some of the "physics" stated...

S2 E3
At least there's thematic consistency: there's no easy, safe path through the currents of time. Good and bad seem to come in equal amounts (and are often contingent on each other) and it's up to us to accept the mantle that history/fate has placed upon us.

BUT, at the same time, I'm annoyed that they seem to think they need a lot of Kirk in the series. And, I'm confused at Paul Wesley's take on him. I think the performance is fine, but it feels like Kirk in name only. Would have been less head-scratching for me if they'd just given this character a different name.

Still, I'm enjoying this much more than Discovery and Picard

Recent Star Trek Rankings for me go:
- Short Treks, specifically the comedy short with John H Benjamin inventing the tribble as we know it.
- SNW
- Lower Decks
- Picard
- Discovery
