Looks fantastic to me, but then the ST1 looks good on a huge variety of straps.

It’s all subjective. If you like it, then cool. But I think the original Omega strap looks nicer.

Agree. Eye of the beholder and all that. But personally the ST1 looks cleaner on a contemporary strap.

If anything, those "vintage" straps are the epitome of contemporary straps. You'd never find such straps in the fifties or sixties, no-one would buy something that cheap and shoddy looking and put on an expensive wristwatch.

I wear mine on a 1450 bracelet so always forget how good it looks on a leather strap! I prefer the non vintage one but both look great.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I think the watch is too crisp and clean for vintage. Strap going back.

I’d rather not wear out the OEM strap, so might try something along these lines instead.

Ouch! I have a distressed leather bomber jacket, I'd better not let you see it. (But you still like my mid-century modern Danish furniture, right?) OTOH, some of those 1950s Omega leather straps were absolutely hideous. I mean, painting a leather strap gray? Really? 😉

How's this for combining mid-century modern with gray vintage straps? 😉

(Incidentally, right now I am wearing a fifties Certina on a vintage strap without any stitching - thin and comfortable!)

Absolutely! Be selfish! why give the next wearer (if you move it on) the benefit of the original strap. It's the same with car seat covers! why drive around sweating your arse off sitting on some cheap pvc only to sell the car later and give someone else the benefit of brand new seats!!

Completely agree with the “vintage” comment- not shoddy though- I have a couple on this style that are beautifully made- but I despise the marketing of calling them “vintage”- I have never seen a strap like those on any watch offered before 10 years ago. If you want to call them “hand sewn” or “pilgrim style” or anything like that- fine, but marketing them as “vintage” is a pet peeve of mine. The tan one posted with the contrasting side stitch and heavy taper is much more in line with what would be considered in the vintage style and would look fabulous on that watch.
