I'm laughing to myself typing this: How about a bronze case with a blood red dial?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet, or if it has been I haven't noticed, is that since Omega seem to be moving away from the LE model towards limited production, the ST series may well be the only Limited Edition model Speedmaster released in the near future. I can't see Omega making the ST3 (whatever it is, if indeed it happens at all) a long term production thing like they the have with Snoopy3 and the Ed White Director's Cut.

I dunno about that. We had at least five Tokyo 2020 watches, one or two every time a new James Bond movie is released. There's the 2022 Olympics model. A NASA commemorative almost every year...

Although unbelievable to think about, those were all released in 2018 and 2019 馃榿

Is the 2022 Winter Olympic SM an LE? The press releases call it a Special Edition with no mention of production number. The NTTD isn't limited either is it? Find me a 2020/21 LE and then we can talk!

Yeah, but I didn't feel like doing any research to see what LE models were specifically released last year (besides the Snoopy, of course). 馃槈

Before I de-lazy myself and look stuff up, I remember being at the Aventura OB a few years ago and they showed me two James Bond Seamasters. I guess this was for "Skyfall." One was a limited edition and the other wasn't.

There is no argument that Omega used to release LEs like No 50 buses (one along every 6 minutes) but that model seems to have changed at the end of 2019. We discussed this a few weeks ago and the most recent LE Speedmasters we could think of were the Met FOIS and the Hodinkee Harlequin watch. Now that was only Speedies and there may have been an LE in another line since then but it does seem that Omega are moving away from that type of release.

It's harder than it looks to find LE watches that were released in 2020 (as opposed to LE's like the 2020 Tokyo Olympics watches - all SEVEN of them-that were released in 2018-2019). But there IS an LE James Bond watch (210.22.42.20.01.004) although I'm not sure what year that one was announced. I would think that the pandemic would have gummed up the works a little, though.

I think there was the Planet Ocean America's Cup with 2021 pieces is the only one I can think of.

My gut feeling is the ST3 could be a broadarrow hand model, 2 or 3 articles recently (2 by RJB) on the reissue/ replica 3950 (correct reference?!) model and how it's his preferred underrated Speedy. Not a Speedy that gets much mention I feel. But a homage/ tweaked model could work.

Do we already know if there will be a ST3 this year?

Out of wonder; in which year/month did they present the ST1 and ST2. And did they mention it in beforehand or was it rather surprise?

I would rather not speculate, but I expect a " Chuck Maddox " tribute Omega Speedmaster as in 2022, Chuck would have been 60 years old...
Chuck Maddox was the first to put Omega info on the internet... Sadly he passed away May 12, 2008 馃檨

Thanks for reviving this, @liberalclown.

The Chuck Maddox theme is very prescient. If the ST3 did this, would it need to be a 5100 caliber? Seems like the movement is going to be the 3861 so how would that fit with Chuck? But I can imagine when RJ read this thought about Chuck Maddox he slapped his forehead and said, "why didn't i think of that?!"

So themes. Here's a possibility. Sally Ride died July 23, 2012. That would be a 10 year anniversary. And what's more, it's high time for a female tribute.

So the movement is 3861, theme could be Sally Ride (not likely, though it'd be cool). Next is design. I have no idea. What would work? I picture her in her blue jumpsuit. Perhaps silver sub-registers with a blue outer ring. Too much Daytona? Maybe. But something with blue.

What about a Mark II, III? Tachy meter under the crystal? Again, probably not. Probably a standard case and bezel. Ceramic bezel? Maybe.

Hands? Lollipop chronograph. No Alpha hamds though. They are great but that seems too retro for Fratello.

Any insiders who hang around with Fratello who can dispense some wisdom?

The only sure thing is that it will sell out 10 seconds before most of us can push the reserve button.

Still, fun to try to guess what it could be.

Yep, five more months...

If HQ was keen on making a tribute to Chuck Maddox, the obvious candidate would be the Speedmaster 'Holy Grail,' no?
Admittedly it would be extremely unlikely that Omega would have to revive the Lemania 5100, which disappeared a couple of decades ago. Maybe they could borrow Breguet's version of the Lemania 1340 adapted with the proper complications to make it functionally the same.
