Oh interesting. this is making me very interested in what a tribute to the X-33 would look like. I may need to photoshop something..
I am perhaps (or rather: surely!) lacking creativity skills, but the customization opportunities would seem quite limited on a X-33... no?👎
Look at the solar impulse: bezel color scheme and a nato strap. Same for the regatta, although they managed to modify some of the functions of the movement as well.

BUT, I still agree that this is the lead option for a ST3…

Wasn’t ST1 the Alaska Project lll tribute 😉 So that shark has been jumped already.....

Ah but that was Alaska III not II, doesn't count😉 Nope not not having that, the ST1 must not block the greatest watch ever made being given its deserved release after 50 years. Come on Omega, you know if makes sense.

I always liked how the regatta had kind of a subdial at 9. Imagine if it was laid out like a Professional, but each subdial was customizable...and it was smaller.... You get the idea.

As I am reading this thread, once again, I am thinking: Why not all collaborating on a Omega Forums limited issue!?!?! 🥰::psy::

Don’t we have a significant anniversary to celebrate in the coming year(s)?!? 10, may be 15?!

How about US members getting an legitimate chance to get one this time? I remember the ST2 dropped in the middle of the night and when I woke up at 7am CST, it was already gone.

I 100% agree - but to be fair, we are more likely to get a 321 than a 1(ONE)861.... you see what I'm saying? It might be $17500 though..

Goes without saying it wouldn't be a cal.321B and remain a typical "Speedy Tuesday," in that (1) it's MSRP would have to reflect the pricing of the SS cal.321B Ed/Gene + platinum 321B, (2) it would - uncharacteristically to the Speedy Tuesday series - no doubt irritate the hell out of current 321B owners 😁

Snooze you loose. The world is a 24hr event.

And it was the ST1 that was done at sleepy US time the ST2 was done a bit later (4hours IIRC) to accommodate the US. As it was released by a Netherlands Magazine/website.....

4 hours later basically only accommodated those on the east coast.

Is there a "best way" to get alerts for the next one?

When Omega announces when the online form will be open, stay up to make sure you can submit an order. Doesn't matter if it's 3am in your timezone. Just don't sleep because if you snooze you lose. The world is a 24hr event.

I think the ST3 will be in 2022 if at all, as it will be 10 years anniversary. I think who ever was responsible for the ST1 and ST 2 should be left to do what ever they did, because both are very nicely executed. Less is more seems to have been the lead design cue for both watches and hopefully they will continue with that philosophy.

The next ST3 should be a X-33 “Moonraker” 43rd Anniversary Edition with an alarm that plays the Bond theme song and the Space Shuttle on the case back. 🙄

Both ST1 and ST2 were homage watches with a tweak.

So, I'd expect that ST3 will have its basis in an uncommon prior model, with a few modifications. Something like a panda version of the Japanese Racing dial or a reverse panda version of the Albino Speedy. -Both mentioned in today's ST column by RJ.

Though RJ has fondness for the X-33, it's long in the tooth and due for a complete update. Omega may put the brakes on an LE based on 2022 timing.

Given tooling considerations, I'd also bet against a laser ablated dial like the Ti Apollo 45.

I think an appropriate guess would be - how many special editions will Omega crank out this year?

Omega posted some videos about the 50th anniversary of Apollo 14 on their Instagram stories today.

My guess for ST3 will be either a racing dial (maybe in a green colour) or maybe something with a broad arrow.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet, or if it has been I haven't noticed, is that since Omega seem to be moving away from the LE model towards limited production, the ST series may well be the only Limited Edition model Speedmaster released in the near future. I can't see Omega making the ST3 (whatever it is, if indeed it happens at all) a long term production thing like they the have with Snoopy3 and the Ed White Director's Cut.
