Just over 5 years ago, we covered the Omega Speedmaster From The Moon To Mars edition from one of our readers from Singapore. Nice watch with some acceptable colours on the dial. I prefer them crisp and clean but there are also some faded colours out there.

The "Frozen Mars" faded dials are actually really appealing to me more and more as time goes by.

Y'know, I never found this model attractive. Maybe it's the falcon heavy launch and a little bit of a renewed enthusiasm for a mars mission that seems to be on the horizon, but I'm sort of starting to dig it. Apparently others are beginning to agree. Thanks for changing people's minds robert. I'll hold you responsible when my wallet is that much lighter! 😉

There are so many Speedy LEs now, it's kind of a given that some of them are going to see some moderate price increases.

Had one two years ago but sold it. Although it was a great watch, the chronograph subdials were impossible to read quickly and my main use of a chronograph was to time my cooking. Also, I had a Zenith El Primero Tri-color at the time and they sort of overlapped. It was a good flip, though. Got it as a full set for $2800, sold it for $4000.

It's about the only limited edition Speedy that's still affordable. Oh, that right it's not limited...it's only numbered and limited to the number Omega could produce. 😉

1969-2019 half-a-century Alaska project with clear practical to read radial dial and 60 minutes bezel... these globes are almost impossible to read
Then again... De gustibus non est disputandum 😉

Unfortunately, it is no just 'some'. It seems most LE/NE have gone up quite a bit.

Yes, I remember about a decade ago when some grey market dealers were seemingly giving those watches away for less than they'd sell you a standard Speedy Pro. I almost bought one at the time because I loved that dial. Instead, in the spring of 2008 I ended up buying a Speedy Pro from Heurgon in Paris, back when they were an Omega authorized dealer. (They no longer are today.) Got a pretty good discount on it, too.

But every time I see that "From The Moon To Mars" Speedmaster, I pause to ponder what might have been. Still love that dial, and the sentiment behind it!

Honestly, it seems to have all started Q4 2017. I have a feeling the steel sports Rolex supply not meeting demand has led to purchases of other non-Rolex steel watches, and #2 is usually Omega.
