I got an email yesterday from OB in California, USA. The botique manager told me that my speedy will be delivered by Wednesday next week. Mine is 03xx.
Negotiation is not possible at all since there are a waiting list for this watch per the manager I’ve talked to. They did not even waive sales taxes. My final price was USD $ 7,774. I put some down payment then I received 24 months no interest financing from OB. They told me that the box will be delivered separately in following week so I will pick them up both in the same time in 2 weeks.

Man that's expensive. I don't have VPN to check the omega pricing in their US website, but when you click "Reveal Price" in the omega website, does it say "VAT Excluded?" Mine is "AU$8,720.00, * Recommended sale price (VAT incl.)"

I know state tax vary, but that went above than what I expected lol.

Pricing in the US is $7100 + sales tax. The Aussie pricing is unbelievably low 🙁, especially if that's inclusive of GST.

It was Beverly Hills so sales tax was 9.5%..

Hi,

Well, that is depending on the type of bracelet that is available. I don't like the current bracelet indeed. I don't think it is a bad bracelet qualitywise, but I just don't like the looks. I have suggested using ref. 1171 (or the current ref of this replacement part, which is still officially is) but that was a long shot, as I know that this bracelet is what it is, a replacement part and not something that is up to Omega's current standards of bracelets. So, if this changes in the future, a possible future ST3 might come on a bracelet.

RJ

Good to know! Well, I don't dislike the current bracelet but I would like to see them start using the Mark II Co-axial adjustable clasp and I would like to see Omega make a modern redesign of the 1450 or 1171 (SEL and all solid links, pretty please!). Maybe you can suggest this to Omega???? 😁

The 1450 isn't very far off from the first gen PO bracelet so it couldn't be that hard to design, develop, and manufacture. Come to think of it I wonder if my first gen PO bracelet would fit a Speedy Pro. Hmmmm...

Cheaper in the UK, where the price is £4750.

Pretty close though. I'd take that $700+ USD savings here in the US!!! And your women are gorgeous. Life isn't fair!

That's inclusive of tax as well?

Lots of people have this trick here to claim GST back in Australia. They will book a flight out of Australia within a month of getting the watch, claim 10% GST back out of the airport then come back in again. Australian Customs has been targeting those people especially for luxury items.

$8720 / 1.1 = $7927.27 ex GST. around 4520.25 British Pounds

Edit: Sorry I think we're getting out of topic.

My number is 15xx. Rippy me

You really think I didn't do this already? ;-)

Somebody was already trying to sell his in my facebook group for $13,500 AUD. Based on the picture's background, this could be the same watch.

One guy commented : "Nice Price! GLWS"

I've seen maybe 3 that have been sold on Ebay, as well as this one that has just been posted. There are also 3 on C24.

I previously read people suggesting hundreds of them would instantly be offered for sale. Maybe the desire to instantly sell these is a bit less than expected. Have people decided the Ultraman is one to keep hold of? I have no idea how many have so far been released, but the secondary market isn't exactly flooded with them, although that may will increase.

Mine is 18** and I still haven't heard anything...it's also not going up for sale.

Oh they're cheap enough to buy, but what I was saying is it would have been a great opportunity to include an Omega or Ultraman themed UV keychain in the package.

I agree. A fobkey with the serial and UV at the end would do nicely. Makes the watch even more personal.

I only started watch collecting around a year ago a few months after ST1. Was this the case also back then that people started selling them? Was the hype the same in terms of how quick it was sold out and discussion?

Imo, I find it hard to say that we all won't sell a watch. I had a few where I said the same and sold it lol. The only ones I know don't plan selling are the ones that I send for service (Explorer and -78 currently). Hopefully this ST2 will be the same.

I need to put my ST2 fund hiding before i spend it on something else lol.

Quite interesting the pricing disparity between countries. I had originally ordered to Miami, FL thinking it would be cheaper, however, I did a deep dive into the pricing and ended up switching my delivery to Calgary, AB because I calculated i would save $1,555 CDN ($1,200USD)! I've translated the pricing into Canadian dollars (using google’s exchange rates - YMMV) for my own purposes, but it's still illustrative:

Canadian MSRP is: $7,980 (plus sales tax, which ranges by province from 5% to 15%; so final price of $8,379 CDN ($6,395USD) at the low end or $9,177CDN ($7,006USD) at the high end):

UK: GBP4,750 = $8,188CDN (which includes VAT)
Europe: EUR5,910 = $9,060CDN (including VAT)
Malaysia: MYR$23,880 = $7,735CDN (unsure if sales tax is in addition)
Singapore: SG$9,100 = $8,828CDN (unsure if sales tax is in addition)
$7,100USD = $9,295CDN (and that DOES NOT include sales tax, which ranges from 0% to over 9%).

If you buy the watch in Nashville, TN, you would be paying $2,500 CDN ($1,900 USD) more (incl sales taxes) than you would in Malaysia! 27% more.

If bought in Calgary, AB, Canada, rather than Seattle, WA, USA, you would save $1,752CDN (or $1,338 USD)! That's a pretty massive difference! Even if you purchased in Vancouver, BC rather than Seattle, you'd save $1,200 CDN ($915USD); less than a 3 hour drive to save 13%.

I live in Ontario with 13% GST. I was in London on holiday with family last week (I also spend quite a bit of time in England for work) and the OB confirmed the UK price was 4750 GBP and I could get 13.8% VAT returned for a net of 4132.5 GBP. If I convert that to CAD it is ~$6924 and with 13% GST it would be $7824. That is roughly equal to $6000 USD at today's FX. Some real arbitrage opportunity here...
