The information is in that thread.
I have been following that thread too. But the most 'credible' number I read was that of +-3000pcs from the Omega exec. The rest I think are speculations. Don't get me wrong, I own a Tin Tin myself. Just curious. Anyway it's a thread drift so I'll leave just leave it there.

I know several people who work in various marketing aspects of Omega. TinTin was to have a destination moon theme which was published in 1953 and the release was to connect with the Destination moon comic.

By the way. Not sure if it has been discussed before. I think I remember seeing @Robert-Jan commenting on Ultraman having special aluminium dial, unlike usual Speedmasters. Any one knows if this aluminium is unique to Ultraman or regularly used on limited editions?

Hi folks,

Newbie here who would very much appreciate some advice. Unfortunately I missed the ultraman though I am on the reserve list.

Do i have a realistic chance of acquiring one on the reserve list? Also when is it that omega begin processing payment for the watches?

Finally, I have a very good chance of acquiring the 2018 CK2998 from my AD soon, I’m tempted to wait out for the ultraman but if I have little chance then I will go for the ck2998 so all thoughts much appreciate. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, you will find it a great source for all things Omega and watches in general.
Regarding your question, that’s a difficult one, I was on the reserve list for the first ST and my name reached the top of the list last December so I got mine before some of the original reservations, it can happen but it is down to chance. From the original ST thread it appears that payment requests varied depending on where you live, in the UK I don’t think any prepayment was required but in my case there was only about a month between being offered the watch and picking it up.
Your final point really depends on how much you want the ST2 over the CK2998. Personally I’d go for the CK2998 which is a very nice watch and a definite whereas the ST2 is down to chance.
Just one further point if you’re considering when funds might be available for your purchases, Omega say August for the start of deliveries, that is very unlikely on past performance. The ST1 was launched in January last year and I don’t believe deliveries began until the autumn, the same with the 57 triogly which kept going back and back.

Hope this is some help (or confuses you even more!).

Once again welcome.

I think one of the most frustrating parts of the ST1 process was the delay on production. If Omega has planned a little better this year and it does start to deliver in August then they will have a remarkable response all around, and there will be less chance for the waiting list folks since there is less of a window for remorse buyers to back down or use the funds for another piece.

Thanks Southern Scot that’s an extremely helpful reply, very much appreciated. I’m from Edinburgh. Lots of great background information there. With that in mind I suspect I will go for the ck2998 when I get the chance then. Cheers!

Yes totally agree, but in the end the ST1 was worth the wait IMHO, not quite so sure about this one, just my personal feeling.

If they start the delivery in August, it will probably be unit by unit, unless they have changed dramatically and lately their production processes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the anniversary seamaster(s) released in Basel this year have not even hit the stores yet and only a few ck2998 have been released so far. So delay is likely imho. Furthermore, by the time the last ST2 will be delivered, Omega will have shown all the novelties for the moon landing 50th anniversary. So I would not be surprised if quite a few people decide to back down and not to go ahead with the ST2.

I would opt for the CK2998 as it’s a sure thing. Also, we seem to forget the quality issues on ST1 which inherently attributed to delays. One would imagine the Swiss would learn and adjust, but we are talking Omega here....

What if they are already all made !

Could be after the last glitch in lengthy delivery they decided to make before selling, they knew selling 2012 wouldn't be a issue unlike the Unknown of the first. 😗

That was my first thought after seeing the possible delivery date but who knows. I think if they're not made as of yet, august delivery would be very optimistic.
We heard that last year Omega CEO Raynald A. complained about supplier delays due to summer holidays. It's summer again so without the watches being already made, august delivery would be impossible IMO. Especially with all the other new models. CK, Apollo 8 etc.

I am banking (literally) on the watches not being ready until late Fall.

Only for the Ultraman.

Delivery will start in August, not unit by unit. Omega took their measurements based on ST1. The issue there had to due with the dial and case production (especially the latter).

It is less than 2000 pieces.
