I hope sanity prevails and no one buys at that price. At least until my place on the wait list gets the congratulations email. (Although I have no idea how to explain to Mrs C what I'm doing trying to source another watch this year)

Tried my birthyear, my son's birthyear, and my daughter's birthyear...all to no avail. But I still managed to get one. Reading through this and other threads, I think I lucked out.

The world is still round, it is always going to be early somewhere. I got up at 2:45am to watch the 23 min spectacle.

I do agree once you reserve one , you should be made to go in the Omega AD/Boutique where you will take delivery and pay a deposit.

You will have to pay for it in August. Delivery is down the road.

I tried to get 1979 for my birthyear but when it wasn't available on first try I just took random number. Ended up with 285 so pretty low 😁

Now I know who snagged my number :whipped:😜

With you on this. Would have loved a special number, but i was so frantic and worried about the site going down i just wanted to get in and out as quick as possible.

Doing away with the number choice probably would reduce server load a bit.

I did the same, get in and get out. Given so many people missed the ST1, I had a feeling, this will be gone in few minutes.

What if you live 3500km from a boutique or AD ?

Have always done that 😉

More of a reply to the " be made " comment below.

Don't think a deposit has anything to do with it as a flipper still has to purchase it before he can flip it. A deposit isn't going to change anything really.

I hate to say it but I don’t get it. I see more appeal on the speedy racer red. I’m starting to get tired of watches that appeal on anything but the watch. A good watch is enough, adding the moon and Tintin And snoopy and Ultraman does not make it better. And I love tintín and I like snoopy....and I hate Ultraman. But that’s besides the point because I guess they run out of western characters. Red power ranger would work too... Mazinger z certainly would be something....

Anyway, while I liked the ST (not enough to buy but enough to appreciate) this seems a little trying.

No offense to those that bought it. I’ve been wrong many times and you still get to flip it for profit..... specially if you flip it in the Asian market.

And to those that are offended at flipper buyers, get over it, if I had the energy and knew I can buy a watch sell it and buy two wat he’s for the price I’d do it to.... as would most sane people.

I just don’t have the energy.

Well, this isn't exactly about Ultraman, it's more about the collectors who have loved their orange-hand 145.012s and nicknamed them for the show it appeared in. The reedition does add a bit more actual Ultraman things because simply releasing a new Speedmaster with just an orange hand would have been boring

on the 'plus' side, only about 2,000 people in the entire world will have the dishonor of having to own one of these. 😉

Agree 100%. This isn't about the Ultraman character (I couldn't care less), I just like that Omega took a colloquial name for one of its watches, ran with it, and made a really cool watch. Sort of like how the "Tintin" isn't really a "character" watch, even though it was originally intended to be...

What sells me on the "Ultraman" is the DoN bezel (with a twist) and the stepped dial. It's clear who Omega was targeting with this one.

on the 'plus' side, only about 2,000 people in the entire world will have the dishonor of having to own one of these. 😉

Probably fewer than that. Much like the Tintin, some people will insist on hoarding them, just because they can.

You can't please everyone.

But the official Omega Instagram release picture has only had 72600 likes so far.... I think in general it went down quite well.
