I was shocked when I saw that selling price--and it was USED! I stopped in just to see if anyone had commented on the upward trend. I check the ebay market every few months, and earlier in the year they were selling for closer to $4k, and always 4+ available from Japanese resellers. Now there's practically none showing up on ebay. I guess Japan finally ran out of their surplus on new tintins. I'll be really interested to see how these things are priced in the next few years--the climb in value to this point has already vastly exceeded my expectations... considering how frequently folks voiced displeasure over the dial design (back when it was still in production).

I'm kind of kicking myself for not buying a new one from Japan for ~$3200 USD only last year... available at that price for a number of months. I kind of figured the price would climb, but double in a year? And for a non-LE too (even though it sort of is).

you're not alone for wanting to kick yourself.... I passed on 2 of them last year too in Japan (about the same price) but never thought it would climb up in price by that much and that quick. oh wells

Hi
I was just photographing mine and noticed a little smudge on the 9 of the hour counter. Given there are no dials left. Is this a good spoof or a bad one? just the nature of hand made dials?

Dials are still available from Omega...

Don't change it - makes it more unique - factory flaws add money to Rolex why not omega too!

That is because Rolex messes up a lot more infrequently than Omega 🤦

There is absolutely zero evidence of that.

Well I think it depends if we are talking true errors vs simple quality control. I don't have numbers, but just from what I read and see on a regular basis...the number of people complaining about simple quality control issues with Omega seems very high compared with Rolex. And this was in reference to the post 2 up about the blemish at the '9' counter.

Well, we are in the Omega Forum so surely there will be more talk of Omegas here than any other watch brand. I've heard that Rolex forums have similar discussions. I know I've seen it on some other forums and I've seen it in FB groups. I'm certain they use similar production processes and thus will have similar equipment and error rates. There might be some slight differences but I'd be willing to bet they are negligible.

Doesn't Omega produce a lot more watches per year then Rolex?

Maybe if they include the Speedmaster Pro volume and their quartz models. For COSC certified models Rolex produces more. Or at least they did the last time COSC shared their certification volumes which was 2016. Who knows though now with Rolex scarcity of supply policy.

His post stated "simple quality control issues" and did not seem to be based on a subsector of Omegas. 😕

Does anyone actually know someone willing to pay 12k for this one? Still seems like a lot of hot air to me

If I knew someone willing to pay $12k for a TinTin I would no longer be posting in this thread, as I would no longer own a TinTin 😁

I remember 4-5 years ago when I was thinking long and hard about spending $12k on a Royal Oak Diver or Rubber Clad (they were cool then).
Now we are using TinTin and $12k in the same sentence 🤔😟🤦

Iam sure we will see this price in the future ( not near future though) if demand continues to be high. Collectors will only sell for BIG MONEY.... and only if they want to free some funds for a new "GEM" watch....

That's just my two cents...😀

Wow, do I feel lucky I did decide to jump on what looks like one of the last moments TinTin's were "reasonably available" 😀
