Speedmaster Tintin On a marché sur la lune en 1954, 60e anniversaire alunissage édition spéciale à 1954 ou (2013) exemplaires pour ma part Hello yes I have two for me and one for my wife )
Hello All! I have just bought (an hour ago) one of these watches for my husband for his 50th I am new to the Watch World, but saw it and loved it! I hope he does too! I'll let you know the serial number when I receive it..
Agree, but would add, I am sure he loves you more...now...though. Hehe Congrats on a brilliant purchase and welcome to the greatest forum between here and the moon.
You got it from, Nick, right? I saw it and immediately thought what a brilliant purchase for someone. You pounced quickly and wisely. Well done. Great pick up, KatGra.
Yep. A friend put me onto Nick and I found it. It was a fair bit over my original budget and my family think I'm mad - but hey - You're only 50 once! It was meant to be as he loves Space Travel and TinTin! A perfect marriage! Cheers, Kat
And bring along the birthday pics wearing the Tintin of course. Ps. Don't forget to PM me with the movement number at some point. Cheers
Previous owner added it. After looking into it, the problem I see with the MR method is exactly as you state, David, the reliance on re-surfacing/re-capture is the most important variable. I read that this method is best used for biological species that can be tagged and released or in depot returning samples such as buses, planes, boats or taxis, etc., these can be "'tagged' then counted when they reappear as re-captured. I think that is correct. It's a good way of estimating but harder, I think, with watches as there is no single depot to record captures. I have been informed that the GTP (German Tank Problem) method of estimation is best to use in this type of situation. However, it is somewhat problematic as well, in that we aren't generally privy to the last two or three digits of the movement numbers. Not sure how to deal with that just yet. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_tank_problem Let the games continue while no one from Omega or the dial and case manufacturers will talk. Cheers John
My 77797.67x to be added to @blubarb's referenced serials list Googled a bit and found the following serials (thanks Google images) : 77798.008 77782.371
I've just bought one of these! A local store had one at what seems like a decent price. I went to see it, got side-tracked with a Panerai and then decided against the Omega whilst I had a debate on the other watch. Reading this thread has made me realise that would probably have been a mistake though, so I've just ordered online at the store and will pick it up from them in a couple of days. In reality, it's so much nicer than the photos. The contrast looks great with the red part of the dial. It comes in the newer type box and has the latest type of Omega cards as well. In March, I hope to be able to tell you all some more info on the history of this model and I'll do my best to find a more definitive number produced.
Great pickup, Wayne. They do look fantastic in hand and on the wrist. They are not being flipped as much at this point from what I can see. I suspect buyers are beginning to see the collection value in these.
I was looking at it from the POV that I adore the Speedmaster, always have, but I also like things that are a little bit different. Picnic cloth, checkerboard or rocket, I like the design and if it's collectible then great 50m WR and hesalite are great for me as I can go swimming at least, and I really like the red text on the rear as well.
wayneg, 50m we is a static test - most of us wouldn't risk a speedy swimming. Hoping im helping.... This one made me laugh: http://jimbodouglass.blogspot.com/2008/12/water-resistant-50-meters-my-ass.html?m=1
