It wasn’t marketed, nor was the true story released and it was largely distributed to Asian markets who were confused by it as it was called Racing much like a previous Racing edition. They were then redistributed elsewhere. Now that the true story is recognized and corroborated they are unobtainable. This is very similar to the highly coveted Day.
Yes indeed that’s what largely happened. The true story couldn’t be told due to the legal issues. RJB took that legal risk and broke it on Fratellowatches and from there it gradually spread on Internet and as they say the REST IS HISTORY.
Keep in mind Paul Newman Daytona’s were being sold 50% off at one point in the late 60’s to 70’s. Also error watches are highly sought after eventually by collectors the Destination Moon seems to be one of Omega’s biggest errors. All signs point upwards.
